I Became A Wretched Extra In A Healing Story - Chapter 8
‘I really am an extra.’
It had been several days since she failed to find the antidote herb.
Failing repeatedly to find the herb, Reibella acutely realized that she was truly an extra.
‘For the female leads, what they need always appears right beside them.’
Honestly, they didn’t even need to bring items separately. Even if they did nothing, their family or male lead would save them.
On the other hand, Reibella was an unfortunate extra who had to endure all hardships alone.
‘Living with a feeling of draining blood isn’t something you can do for long.’
As she let out a deep sigh and raised her head, in the distance, she saw Erina, the princess for whom the whole world seemed easy and manageable.
Sitting in a gazebo swinging her legs, she looked as cute as ever, making one want to bite her.
The princess’s gaze was fixed on a small box on the table, sometimes she’s smiling at the box, sometimes her expression clouded slightly, then smiling brightly again.
“Are you that happy?”
At the maid’s question, the princess shouted, “Yes!”
“Will Dad like it?”
“Of course. Definitely. Today will be the best ‘Thanksgiving Day’ ever.”
Thanksgiving Day.
This holiday, created with the intention of expressing gratitude to someone who had been neglected, was a commemoration day suddenly proclaimed by the Emperor two years ago.
‘It’s a day of childcare clichés.’
According to childcare clichés, dads tend to want to commemorate even the smallest things for the female lead.
For example, when the female lead first called him ‘Dad’, when she first smiled at Dad, when she first gave Dad a gift, and so on.
Touched by every little word and action, Dad would show all sorts of doting behavior, saying he would commemorate that day.
Today was such a day.
A national holiday created to commemorate the day the princess first said “Thank you” to the Emperor.
As it was a day of deep meaning, Erina had been restless for days.
After pondering for days “What gift should I give?”, the child finally decided, like most female leads do, to make something for Dad herself.
What Erina chose was handmade food.
Because the Emperor has everything, and if he wants, he has the wealth and power to have everything. So something handmade by his beloved daughter would have special meaning and are precious.
The problem was…
‘Oh no! What should I do! It’s all burnt.’
Like many female leads who attempt cooking, Erina was also not good at cooking.
Erina created something so black that it was hard to tell if it was meant for human consumption or as a murder weapon, and something that looked like it would automatically induce vomiting if put in one’s mouth.
This was despite the ingredients being flour, vegetables, meat, and ham.
Although it was a shocking result, those around her didn’t spare their praise.
‘Your Highness, it, it looks like this, but I’m sure it tastes good!’
‘Yes! It, it tas, tastes… It’s delicious!’
‘Really! Wow, it’s delicious!’
Watching them gulp down the monstrosity while claiming it was delicious, Reibella felt respect for these princess followers for the first time. Indeed, being a fanatic wasn’t something just anyone could do.
Anyway, after much trouble, Erina completed her cooking, and in the drowsy early afternoon, she visited the Emperor’s palace with her gift.
The meeting place was a garden deep within the Emperor’s palace.
Of course, since they were planning to have tea time together, Reibella, as the food taster, had to accompany them from a distance.
“I’m excited.”
Hehe. With eyes full of anticipation, Erina sipped the juice that Reibella had tasted in advance. Her cheeks puffed up with the drink she had gulped down.
It was then.
“Daughter.”
Along with a low voice, a man exuding a deep sense of pressure appeared.
He was a man of dazzling beauty. A person with golden hair as brilliant as sunlight and eyes as red as blood.
“Dad!”
The Emperor, Liam Curtis Rastel.
He was the strongest being in this world and the female protagonist’s father.
“My daughter.”
The Emperor greeted Erina, who was jumping like a rabbit, by lifting her up. His red eyes softened like a bonfire in midwinter, and his tightly set lips relaxed.
“It seems you’ve grown 0.1mm today.”
“Really? Have I grown that much?”
Although he had only spoken three sentences so far, one could tell that he was more obsessed with his daughter than anyone else.
It was a sight that immediately explained why he had annihilated House Felicity.
“Wasn’t it hard coming here?”
“Come on, it’s right next door. No big deal.”
“But you fell off the horse a few days ago.”
It was Cain Ashley who had fallen, but in the Emperor’s mind, it had long since transformed into a memory of his daughter being in danger. But no one pointed out the truth.
Because of this, the horse caretaker who had looked after the horse she rode at that time was now in prison awaiting trial for attempting to assassinate the princess.
This was despite the fact that he was the one who had been clapping with joy when the princess first learned to ride a horse alone.
‘Certainly. I should never even go near the princess.’
While Reibella was once again clenching her fists and reaffirming her resolve, the Emperor and the princess had already arrived at the gazebo and were sitting face to face, having an intimate conversation.
But unlike a moment ago, the content of their conversation could not be heard. It seemed that the protective magic hanging over the gazebo had been activated.
Glancing, Reibella, who had been keeping her gaze fixed on the ground with her head slightly bowed, carefully raised her eyes. And she stole a look at the Emperor far away.
‘…So that’s the one who killed my parents.’
At first, just hearing the word Emperor made her resentful to the point of madness. She felt wronged about what House Felicity had done wrong, and she also wanted revenge.
But the opponent she had to face was an existence like a massive typhoon.
Knowing better than anyone that this world was created for those two people and revolves around them, Reibella decided not to resist meaninglessly.
Because living with an unquenchable thirst for revenge would be more painful.
‘…But that doesn’t mean I’ll forgive him.’
Die miserably, you Emperor.
To hide her insolent thoughts, she was about to lower her gaze again.
But just then, Erina was taking out the gift she had prepared. Seeing the Emperor’s slightly bewildered expression at that food made her chuckle.
But he would eventually eat that food as if it were delicious. Because he’s the dad in a childcare story.
As expected. The Emperor quickly composed his expression and smiled broadly. Then he stroked his daughter’s hair with a pleased face. A father delighted by his child’s innocent face. It seemed as if a warm spring breeze was blowing around the father and daughter.
“As expected of Her Highness the Princess. His Majesty’s mood has improved quickly.”
“I’m so glad. From now on, when Duke Vicheravali comes, I’m sorry, but we should ask Her Highness the Princess to come in advance.”
…Duke Vicheravali?
Reibella’s attention, which had been focused on the Emperor, instantly turned to the maids.
The maids, unaware that she was eavesdropping, were quietly conversing.
“It seems there was another problem because of Postarimo.”
“Yes. That’s why His Majesty was in a very bad mood.”
“Her Highness seems to be very concerned about it too. I’ll try to speak to Her Highness about it.”
“Thank you, I’m counting on you, Miss Hampton.”
From the flow of the conversation, it seemed that Duke Vicheravali was making good use of the information he had given in return for the book.
‘That’s great!’
Reibella clenched her fists hidden in the folds of her skirt. A smile unconsciously spread across her face.
But she quickly composed her expression. Because the Emperor’s dedicated food taster was approaching with a tray.
“This is Her Highness the Princess’s food.”
As the princess’s food approached, Julia Hampton, the maid who had been conversing nearby, came to Reibella. And as she had always done, she naturally cut off the edge of the cake, a marshmallow, and a cookie, and handed them to Reibella.
“The tea will be milk tea with dried strawberries. The milk is here…”
Reibella, who had put the least tasty marshmallow in her mouth, glanced at the gazebo. She thought she might feel better if she saw the Emperor eating the food given by the princess with a rotten expression.
But it wasn’t of much help. Because the Emperor was eating the food made by the princess as if it was really delicious.
Smiling, seemingly overflowing with happiness.
…Does love make people blind?
How can he eat that so deliciously?
It was truly something Reibella could not understand at all.
Sighing, she immediately spat out the marshmallow she had been holding in her mouth. Then she quickly ran to the nearby water, rinsed her mouth, and spat it out on the ground.
The maids’ eyes widened at this action.
“What are you doing? This is…”
“The taste, it’s strange.”
“Taste? Are you saying you’re in that position to taste…”
“So.”
As Reibella was about to answer again, a small cough erupted without warning. Then her tongue tip felt numb, and her throat became hot.
It was blood.
Ah. Damn it.
So, you blind fools.
“I-I said it’s poisoned.”
