Crazy Match, Crazy Guy - CHAPTER 2 - Part 2
***
She had considered pretending to be sick to avoid the situation, but since the appointment was already made, it seemed foolish to just focus on her feelings. Reluctantly, she followed her dad.
Unlike yesterday, Wooyoung wore a modest mauve skirted suit as she arrived at the Geo Hotel with her father.
Geo Hotel was run by Jang Tae Jin’s mother. After acquiring the struggling Daehan Hotel, they completely revamped it into a nature-friendly establishment. Geo Hotel had become a famous tourist spot for couples, often mentioned by famous influencers.
Heading up to the hotel’s 30th-floor sky lounge, Wooyoung asks her dad for permission to use the restroom. Since her arrival at the hotel, her heartbeats had grown increasingly intense, and it was getting worrisome.
“Ah, this is driving me crazy, seriously.”
Standing in front of the sink, she tried to regain her composure, but her heart continued to race uncontrollably. Even her breath couldn’t be properly drawn.
Maybe I should just try to play it cool and act like yesterday didn’t happen.
Whether she was the one or not, Jang Tae Jin seemed like a man with enough qualities that any woman, literally any woman, would be willing to meet. Even if it wasn’t her, there would probably be a surplus of women eager to marry him.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Wooyoung took a small compact from her purse, applied some makeup on her face, and then put it back.
Damn, even my hands are shaking now.
“Whoa, get a grip, Song Wooyoung!”
Yesterday was an unavoidable encounter. So, I should just forget it. I’m just gonna have dinner tonight and cut off all ties with Jang Tae Jin. Yeah, that’s right.
Bullshit. His intense gaze still flickers in my mind, how am I supposed to forget?
As she came out of the restroom with her bag on her shoulder, she unexpectedly ran into someone. Her heart pounded, and she felt a dizzying sensation, as if her heart had dropped.
It was Jang Tae Jin, standing a few feet away from the women’s restroom.
A man who radiated brilliance just by existing. He was looking at her with his arms crossed.
Surely he wasn’t waiting for me, right?
As she stood dumbfounded, unable to walk forward, Jang Tae Jin walked towards her and leaned against the wall.
At the same time, her body unconsciously retreated backwards.
“Why, why, why?”
“Are you nervous? You’re stuttering.”
“N-nervous, y-yes, nervous.”
Gosh, what an idiot. Why am I stuttering?
“But, but, why are you, c-coming closer?”
“Because you keep moving away, I have to come closer.”
Why does his shadowed face look so sexy under the bright lights? Just because I slept with him once, doesn’t mean Jang Tae Jin should appear manly in my eyes now. This really shouldn’t be happening.
“S-s-say it from over there.”
Jang Tae Jin put his hand into his pants pocket and began to speak.
“You told your father that you’d never get married, is that true?”
When did Dad tell this guy about that?
“That’s right.”
“Can you forget about me?”
“W-w-what do you mean?”
Wow, this guy’s confidence is sky-high.
“Because I can’t forget you. Our night together yesterday…”
“S-stop it!”
He’s speaking so openly. It’s embarrassing.
“Let me make a proposal.”
“What?”
“Give it a try, date me for just a month. And then decide.”
“Why would I…”
“Then would you take all the responsibility?”
“What should I take responsibility for?”
“Don’t you know? If you’re pregnant after what happened yesterday, I’m not going to…….”
“Hey! Don’t say things like that.”
“Why shouldn’t I say that?”
“Because it’s unlikely…….”
Well, it’s not like there’s absolutely no possibility.
“Why didn’t you use a condom then?”
“Are you blaming me now?”
“Then who should I blame? You’re the one who provoked me into this.”
“You provoked it.”
“So, you’re saying I’m the one at fault?”
“I’m not trying to pinpoint blame right now. I’m just talking about keeping possibilities open for what might happen in the future.”
“Why bring up something that might not even happen now and make it unsettling?”
“I’m just telling you in advance, in case you might worry about it alone, so we could discuss it together.”
“Ugh, seriously.”
“The adults are waiting, so let’s go.”
Pursing her lips, Wooyoung followed him into the lounge.
There was no one around except for the working staff, as if he had reserved the whole place.
Sitting down next to Soohyuk, Wooyoung inwardly admired the middle-aged woman seated next to Tae Jin. With her refined short haircut and naturally wrinkled distinctive features, she had an elegance that instantly revealed where Tae Jin inherited his striking features from.
“I’ve only seen her in photos, but she’s even more beautiful in person.”
“Please, Mom, stop.”
Mom?
Oh no, why does that sound so natural coming out?
“My Wooyoung takes after her mother in looks, so she’s pretty.”
At Soohyuk’s words, Wooyoung gave him a sidelong glance.
“Anyway, I took care of ordering the food, but Wooyoung, if there’s something you can’t eat, let me know.”
“I eat everything just fine. And please stop worrying.”
“Oh, alright, if you say so.”
“Why didn’t you ask me?”
Hyunkyung, Tae Jin’s mother, shook her head at Soohyuk’s mumbled complaint.
“You eat anything without any issues.”
Woohyung have heard that Tae Jin’s mother and her father were classmates in high school, so they must have been close. The naturalness that can only come out if they were on friendly terms is evident in their way of speaking.
And so, that’s how the dinner started. The conversation was mostly between Soohyuk and Hyunkyung, with Wooyoung occasionally answering questions.
After the meal, as cake and coffee were served for dessert, Hyunkyung smiled gently at Wooyoung.
“Wooyoung, you said you don’t want to marry Tae Jin, right? What is it about him that you don’t like?”
“What? Oh, no, it’s not that I don’t like Tae Jin… “
Jang Tae Jin interrupted.
“Mom, we’ve decided to date and we’ll talk about marriage later.”
