Crazy Match, Crazy Guy - CHAPTER 4 - Part 1
Upon returning home, Wooyoung sat down at her desk and lovingly opened her portfolio. She’d heard about a job opening at Shihong Apparel, so she’d spoken to a representative and had schedule her an interview for tomorrow.
Although her father strongly encouraged her to get married, she had no intentions of giving up the design job she loved.
Looking at the shoes that held her soul, Wooyoung grabbed a colored pencil and started drawing the designs that came to mind in her sketchbook. She had a preference for designs that pursued comfort over flashy appearances, but now there was a need to transition her design in a slightly different direction.
While she was deeply engrossed in her work, she heard a knocking sound. Upon opening the door, their middle-age house lady asked her to come for dinner.
Time had already passed so quickly.
Wooyoung went downstairs to the first floor and saw his father sitting in front of the dining table.
“You’re home already?”
“Yeah. Sit down, but, can’t you wear some proper pants instead of those leggings?”
“Look how comfortable these are.”
“What’s comfortable about something that clings to your body like that.”
In response to Soohyuk’s comment, the middle-aged woman chuckled as she placed the bowls on the dining table.
“Haha, young people these days don’t care about such things, Sir. Besides, when Wooyoung wears it, she looks pretty in it.”
Wooyoung gave a playful wink in the direction of the middle-aged woman.
“I will enjoy the meal.”
“Good. Since I made the galbijjim (braised short ribs) that you like today, make sure to eat a lot.”
“Yes, Auntie.”
Picking up her cutlery, Wooyoung tasted the seaweed soup, then picked up a piece of galbi (short rib) with her chopsticks and placed it on her small plate.
“It looks delicious.”
As she was about to take a big bite of the galbi, his father’s words stopped her.
“I’ll let you.”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“I met Tae Jin this afternoon.”
Thunk. The piece of meat that was on her chopsticks fell onto her plate.
This guy, did he really tell my dad that we’re going to live together?
Well, if it’s Jang Tae Jin, he’s someone quite likeable in her father’s eyes.
“He must have liked you quite a bit, because he said he wanted to live with you and win your heart before marriage, so…….”
“That’s not why you said yes, is it?”
“It is.”
Even the chopsticks in her hand dropped onto the table.
No way. Dad, who’s so traditional, approve of us living together? This is truly an unbelievable situation.
“You really gave your approval?”
“Yeah.”
“Why do you trust Tae Jin to let me live with him?”
He, as her father, couldn’t just stand idly by while a guy shows his willingness to marry his daughter.
It wasn’t a bad proposal in anyway; if his daughter built a connection with Jang Tae Jin through living together despite her aversion to marriage, it might naturally lead to marriage. Besides, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t find anyone else with the same charm as Tae Jin.
“What if we live together and things get bad and we break up?”
“Then there’s nothing we can do about it.”
“Are you okay with my reputation getting tarnished?”
“Tarnished reputation? Does it matter?”
“Dad.”
Sighing, Soohyuk opened his mouth as he faced Wooyoung, whose voice had grown louder.
“Try living with Jang Tae Jin for about a month. Then decide about marriage, after that.”
“What if I still don’t want to get married?”
“Then it probably means it’s not meant to be.”
Soohyuk saw how Wooyoung had been looking at Tae Jin throughout dinner last night. She’d never give him that shy look if she wasn’t interested, but she’s faking her feelings. So he decided to interfere, there was no choice but to make her realize her feelings.
After looking at him for a moment, Wooyoung picked up the meat that had fallen on her plate. Chewing on the tender meat, Wooyoung resolved that she should never pursue anything resembling a relationship with Tae Jin in the future.
I never thought my dad would allow me to live with him.
Given the situation like this, living with Tae Jin became inevitable.
She didn’t know if living with Tae Jin would poison or benefit her, but it was happening anyway.
“Why can’t you eat properly? Eat more.”
I suddenly lost my appetite.
“I snacked a bit in the afternoon, so I’m not really hungry.”
“But still, don’t leave your rice. It’s not good to waste food.”
“Alright.”
Wooyoung finished her meal, reluctantly shoveling the rice and meat down her throat.
“I’m going back upstairs.”
“Pack your things and move into his house tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?”
“Since you’re moving in with him, there’s no harm in spending time together as soon as possible.”
“Are you really that eager to send me off, Dad?”
It’s not about wanting to send you off, it’s about hoping you find happiness.
Wooyoung’s disappointment was evident on her face, yet in times like these, Soohyuk had no choice but to remain composed. He loved his daughter dearly, but he had to make bold decisions for her sake.
“Since the opportunity has arisen, you should go.”
Truth be told, she didn’t dislike Jang Tae Jin either. In fact, she was developing positive feelings towards him, if anything.
But she’s not sure. She’s not sure she can marry him and live a happy life.
Looking at early-married couples in her surroundings, her thoughts about marriage had diminished even further. Whenever she fought with him every few days and lamented her frustration to him, she could only wonder why people got married and went through so much heartache.
“I’ll go rest upstairs. Chorong, let’s go.”
Throughout the meal, Chorong, who had been lying between her and Soohyuk, sat up.
“Just leave Chorong be. You’re going to be away soon anyway. Just go upstairs and pack your stuff.”
“Won’t you be lonely without me?”
“It’s okay. Chorong is here.”
Even if it’s just words, they make a difference. Wooyoung felt a bit hurt.
Sitting down, she patted Chorong’s head and back a few times before returning to her room.
Taking out a suitcase from the corner of her dressing room, Wooyoung threw in a few sets of clothes and some cosmetics before closing the suitcase.
Living together just two days after meeting through matchmaking. It’s mind-boggling and bewildering, but Jang Tae Jin’s fast-paced approach is making this possible.
Wooyoung didn’t know how to accept and understand the situation.
It’s like he’s a business executive, the pace at which he’s pushing this forward is incredibly swift.
After brushing her teeth and getting into bed, Wooyoung fiddles with her phone, contemplating whether to call him or not, only to realize that she doesn’t have his number.
“How can I call him if I don’t even know his number…… no, he should be the one calling me first since he suggested the idea of living together.”
As she was about to place her phone on the nightstand, it vibrated. Startled, she picked up the phone again, and with a puzzled expression, she pressed the answer button upon seeing an unfamiliar number.
-
- Hello, this is Jang Tae Jin.
Her heart fluttered at the deep voice coming through the phone receiver.
Why does hearing the name Jang Tae Jin sound so pleasant?
“Ah, okay.”
-
- I’m outside.
