Crazy Match, Crazy Guy - CHAPTER 5 - Part 1
After explaining the situation to CEO Han Ji-wook and leaving the office, Wooyoung, is stopped by Tae Jin who follower her.
“Have you had lunch?”
“Not yet.”
“Let’s go, you should eat before you leave.”
“I’ll manage to eat on my own.”
“Just come along.”
Tae Jin grabbed hold of her, knowing that if he let her go, she’d skip lunch. It was the first time he had casually taken time off during work hours. That’s how concerned he was about her.
They went to a pasta restaurant across the street from the office building, and Tae Jin filled her stomach before returning to the office.
Ji-wook, who had been looking at documents, got up from his desk and came to sit across from Tae Jin on the couch.
“What’s going on between you two?”
“We’re getting married.”
“What? What did you just say?”
“Don’t pretend you didn’t hear. You heard it.”
“Ha! So, the great Jang Tae Jin is getting married? Well, this is a rare event in the world. It seems like you quite like that woman. Well, she is pretty.”
“Is now really the time for such comments?”
Tae Jin said, reaching for the coffee his secretary had brought him.
“I already gave instructions to the legal team. We need to firmly grasp the situation. It’s outrageous that someone would plagiarize a design in my company.”
Ji-wook thought it was just a simple matter.
There are a lot of reasons why people leave companies, but he believed the biggest reason was the stress from dealing with people, and he thought that was why Wonyoung left. Yet, such a complicated incident is intertwined in this.
She must have been hurt a lot.
“I want you to investigate thoroughly.”
“Do you trust Song Wooyoung?”
“Yeah.”
“How long have you been dating?”
“That’s not what matters. What matters is the character of that person. The Song Wooyoung I know would never covet what belongs to someone else. I can assure you of that much.”
“If that’s the case, Song Wooyoung must have been really unfairly treated, right? We need to start by verifying the truth. Oh, I contacted the HR department, and Song Wooyoung’s resignation hasn’t been processed yet. If her innocence is proven this time, I’ll make her team leader.”
Tae Jin’s desire was for her to peacefully marry him, have their own child, and focus solely on them. But that was a selfish desire, and he was well aware that she probably wouldn’t want that.
All he could do now was support her in whatever decision she made.
Taking a sip of his coffee, Tae Jin set his cup down as Ji-wook slid some papers in front of him.
“How do you feel about the company after looking around? Have you made a decision?”
“Yeah. I’ll assign a managing director to oversee it and proceed with the project.”
“Thank you.”
The stagnant designs were losing appeal with customers, and last year, they hadn’t even turned a profit. They needed a breakthrough. To achieve that, they needed Tae Jin’s help.
“No matter how capable the managing director is, without competitive products, it won’t translate into sales. Especially in the fashion sector, we can’t afford to compromise on distinct design, sophistication, or quality. It won’t be easy.”
“I know. We’re also going to establish a dedicated department for home shopping, so don’t worry about that. Here, sign.”
Putting down the pen Ji-wook offered, Tae Jin pulled out a fountain pen from his jacket pocket. The fountain pen he always used when signing contracts.
It had been given to him by his late father, so it was very precious to him.
After signing his name and putting the fountain pen back in its place, he stood up.
“I’ll be on my way.”
“Thank you again.”
Before he turned to leave, he turned back to Ji-wook.
“How many design departments do you have in total?”
“Five teams. Song Wooyoung is in Team 1. Why do you ask?”
If Wooyoung were to return to the company, Tae Jin hoped she wouldn’t join the home shopping team. He didn’t want her to go through hardships. He was already concerned about the challenges she would face, knowing how much stress would be involved in launching products.
“Just curious.”
“Just curious, huh? Worried that your lady might be having a hard time?”
Looking at Tae Jin’s deeply furrowed brow, Ji-wook realized that he cared about her more than he realized. In all the years he’d known Jang Tae Jin, he’d never seen him so genuinely concerned about someone. It was intriguing and unfamiliar.
He should have done this sooner.
“Don’t worry, I won’t make her work overtime. Oh, that’s assuming Song Wooyoung gets the job based on her skills.”
He wanted her to succeed in the competition, but he knew that would also bring difficulties for her, so it’s a real conundrum.
“I’m heading out.”

Once caught at one traffic light, you seem to catch all the traffic lights. Stopped in her car, Wooyoung plugged in her earphones and looked at the unfamiliar phone number displayed on the screen. The caller was from the HR department, and the message was to come to the company tomorrow at 2 PM.
I should have done this earlier.
Hoping that the wrongs could be corrected at this point, she was about to take off her earphones when the phone rang again.
Who’s calling?
She pressed the answer button, and an unwelcome voice came through.
- Is this Song Wooyoung? It’s me, Team Leader Yeom.”
She hadn’t saved anyone’s contact information because she disliked dealing with people, but didn’t expect this strange number to be Yeom’s.
“Can I help you?”
- I hope you can spare me some time after work.”
“Yeom, there’s nothing separate to discuss. I’m hanging up.”
- I want to apologize.”
“What?”
- I was wrong. I think I lost my mind because of performance pressure. Please forgive me just this once. I can’t afford to lose my job. I have several family members I need to support. If I lose my job, it’ll be a real disaster!”
Now that she had a visual of him looking pitiable, she realized that her concerns weren’t entirely unfounded. When he had been confidently strutting around, he acted like an upright person, but now he seemed utterly shameless and despicable.
“Your situation is none of my concern. Goodbye.”
- If you ask me to get down on my knees, I will. So cut me some slack, okay?
If she didn’t handle this situation properly, the word “plagiarism” would haunt her for a lifetime. She couldn’t bear such humiliation.
“I’m hanging up.”
As soon as she hung up, the phone rang again. But she didn’t answer it because she already recognized Yeom’s number.
“Ugh, I could use a drink.”
