Crazy Match, Crazy Guy - CHAPTER 8 - Part 3
***
Their wedding took place exactly one month after they started living together, in hopes to change her mind about marriage. Her wish to have a simple wedding with only a few close friends invited was not fulfilled.
Their wedding, held at the Geo Hotel Grand Ballroom, an orchestra, as well as renowned chefs who personally cooked, and famous singers who sang congratulatory songs, were invited.
More than 200 people were invited, including her coworkers and friends.
Back in the waiting room after the ceremony, Wooyoung slumped into a chair.
“I really can’t imagine doing this wedding thing again.”
Despite the grandeur of the wedding, fatigue lingered after the festivities.
She had smile so much that her facial muscles were practically paralyzed.
“Madam, let me help you change your clothes.”
Weary, Wooyoung looked at the woman before her.
Ever since the wedding was finalized, her mother-in-law had sent an attendant to assist and protect her. The attendant, in her early 30s, was a master of various martial arts, holding high-level black belts in Taekwondo, Judo, and Hapkido.
“Please, go ahead.”
The wedding dress was too much for her to take off on her own.
As she stood up, the attendant swooped down to help her up.
“You must be tired.”
“Yeah, a bit.”
Just then, a knocking sound was heard. The attendant’s hands, which were about to help her remove the dress, froze.
“What should I do?”
“Let them in. I’ll change clothes in a little while.”
“Okay.”
Lowering herself onto the three-seater sofa upstairs, Wooyoung smiled at the familiar faces.
“You looked so beautiful today, Wooyoung! You were like an angel!”
Min-seok nodded in agreement with Sungkyung’s words.
“Congratulations on your marriage again.”
“Thank you.”
Eun-ho, who had been standing behind Min-seok, approached hesitantly.
“Congratulations.”
“Yeah.”
Because of Eun-ho’s confession, Wooyoung couldn’t look at him as easily as before. She had tried to sort out her feelings, but she still didn’t feel as comfortable around him as before.
“Get over it.”
“I already did.”
He had apologized multiple times for the things he had said to Wooyoung.
While she had forgotten most of his words, she still couldn’t see Eun-ho as more than just a male friend.
“Let’s all have a meal together soon.”
“Sure, I’ll make time… Uh oh.”
Suddenly, a feeling of nausea overwhelmed Wooyoung. Sungkyung’s eyes widened in alarm.
“Wooyoung, what’s wrong?”
“Eun-ho, do you smoke?”
“Yeah. Quit for a while, then started again recently.”
“You really reek of cigarettes. Sorry… Uh oh.”
Sungkyung squinted her eyes.
“Wooyoung, could it be that you’re pregnant?”
“What are you talking about?”
“I can’t smell cigarette smoke on Eun-ho, but you’re reacting so sensitively. Some people become sensitive to smells during early pregnancy. Are you, by any chance…”
“Nonsense…….”
Well, no, it’s not like it’s impossible. After their first time together, she had started taking birth control pills just in case.
But, due to her busy schedule, she had forgotten a few times. Still, she had been quite consistent with taking the pills.
It can’t be, it can’t be. There’s no way.
But this uneasy feeling… What could it be?
And as Sungkyung mentioned, the smell of cigarettes and perfume had been bothering her lately. She hadn’t worn her favorite perfume in days because she couldn’t stand the smell.
Just then, Tae Jin appeared with a knock on the door and he looked particularly radiant today. His neatly styled hair and flawlessly handsome features made him seem like a masterpiece created by a deity. She was undoubtedly fortunate to be marrying such a handsome man.
Sungkyung beamed at his arrival.
“Congratulations on your marriage!”
“Thank you.”
“By any chance, you don’t smoke, do you?”
“What?”
“Wooyoung’s gotten really sensitive to the smell of cigarettes. Probably due to pregnancy…”
Wooyoung cut her off mid-sentence.
“Hey! Enough!”
But Tae Jin’s eyes had already widened when he heard the word ‘pregnant’.
“You’re pregnant?”
“Uh….”
Tae Jin looked at Wooyoung, who shook her head, after hearing the Sungkyung’s words.
“No, I don’t think so, Sungkyung is just talking nonsense…”
“Hahaha, I’ll leave now. I have to go to the reception. My favorite singer is there. Honey, let’s go.”
“Huh? Yeah. Eun-ho, let’s go.”
After the three of them rushed out, Tae Jin, who had been standing there in a daze, collecting his emotions, came over and sat down next to her.
“You don’t know how happy I am right now.”
“Nothing’s confirmed yet.”
“I have a feeling it’s true.”
A familiar voice interrupted them. It was Hyunkyung, Tae Jin’s mother, together with Wooyoung’s father.
“You have a feeling it’s true? What’s that supposed to mean?”
Tae Jin got up from his seat and stood before them. Already a tall figure, he seemed even taller standing on the podium.
“Mother, Father, I think it might be difficult for us to attend the reception.”
“What’s going on?”
Suhyuk’s face immediately turned grim.
“I’ll let you know when things are certain. Right now…”
As Suhyuk approached Wooyoung closely, she suddenly felt nauseous. The smell of his skin was repulsive to her.
Seeing this, Hyunkyung’s mouth dropped open.
“No way, dear…?”
“We still don’t know.”
“Oh my! Oh my! Am I going to be a grandmother?”
Seeing Hyunkyung’s joyful excitement and Suhyuk’s wide-eyed astonishment, it seemed that the situation couldn’t go any other way but towards pregnancy.
What if I’m not?
Beside Wooyoung, who couldn’t hide her concern, Hyunkyung sat down and tightly held her clasped hands. There was a hint of tears in her eyes.
Is seeing a grandchild really that joyful?
“Dear, thank you. I’ll put in a call to Dr. Jang right now, so you can go.”
“I’ll go to the pharmacy first…….”
“No need. Tae Jin, hurry up and change your clothes.”
“Yes, mom.”
Tae Jin’s gaze shifted to Suhyuk.
“Father, we’ll go first.”
“Sure, sure. Don’t worry about this place, just go quickly. Wooyoung, you need to call your me first.”
She nodded.
“In -law, let’s go. Help the kids get ready.”
“Sure, sure, haha.”
As the two of them disappeared, Tae Jin sat beside her again and pulled her into a warm embrace. His scent enveloped her. Strangely, his scent didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. In fact, it had become more appealing.
Sniffing his scent, Wooyoung’s lips curved into a smile. And she silently wished.
Please let it be a pregnancy.
Honestly, she hadn’t even thought about having a child, but everyone’s warm reception of the possibility made her worried in an unexpected way of what if it’s false alarm and she’s not actually pregnant.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Let’s get ready and go.”
“Okay.”
With that, Wooyoung changed out of her wedding dress with the help of her attendant and headed to the hospital with Tae Jin, where Dr. Jang, who had been waiting for them since Hyunkyung’s call, confirmed her pregnancy.
Tae Jin’s eyes fell on her as they listened to the baby’s heartbeat. Looking at her lying there, he mouthed.
I love you.
There were no spoken words, but his lips clearly formed that sentence. Wooyoung’s eyes turned into crescent moons.
