We had spent four entire days at the villa and didn’t leave the house for a week after we returned.
About two weeks into our marriage, I found myself pushing Yuri away, who was clinging to me like glue.
“Get off now!”
At my outburst, Yuri looked at me with tearful eyes and complained.
“I’m still not satisfied with you, Titi. Has your love already cooled?”
“Tears don’t work on me anymore! Get dressed quickly!”
“…Tsk.”
At my firm response, Yuri clicked his tongue. My heart had fluttered at his tears, so I felt relieved as I clutched my chest.
‘I’m glad I didn’t give in!’
For nearly two weeks, Yuri and I had lived like the perfect newlywed couple.
We stayed close all day until we fell asleep from exhaustion, woke up to eat when it was time, and whenever I was dozing off from fatigue while chewing my food, Yuri would scoop me up, using the excuse of helping me wash, and head to the bathroom.
And then, before I knew it, we were back in bed.
‘Looking back, those were truly indulgent days.’
Having done nothing productive or meaningful and just lazing around in the bedroom, I felt a sense of urgency that I couldn’t continue living so idly.
So, about a week in, I tried several times to leave the bedroom. Of course, I failed every time.
‘At first, it was his charm. Then came the tears. Later, he used both.’
Yuri knew how innocent he looked and used it well. When faced with his eyes, moist like dew-covered roses, I couldn’t help but fall for him, even though I knew there was a cunning wolf beneath that face.
‘But I can’t let this continue. I don’t even remember the last time I saw sunlight. At this rate, I’ll forget what other people’s voices sound like.’
Unless we planned to live forever on a deserted island with just the two of us, it was time to venture outside.
“I’m fine just like this.”
“What about the Magic Tower?”
“Won’t it run smoothly without me?”
“……”
Yuri clung to me until the end. I, too, secretly enjoyed lounging at home with him, so his words swayed me a little. But thinking of Colin helped me regain my resolve.
“Still, we’ve received wealth, so we should go out and work. Get up.”
It seemed Colin had transferred the assets of the future Tower Master to me to make me feel indebted.
Unable to ignore the wealth bestowed upon me, I coaxed Yuri into going out with me.
Naturally, our first destination was the Magic Tower.
We could have instantly traveled to the tower by holding Yuri’s hand, but I chose to walk together.
I extended my hand to Yuri at the entrance.
“Let’s walk.”
Yuri, who had been looking at my hand with wide eyes for a moment, obediently took it. He intertwined our fingers tightly, and the difference in hand size struck me anew.
The sky, which I hadn’t seen in a while, was clear without a single cloud. The sun was hot, but the breeze on my cheeks was cool. It was perfect weather for a walk.
“The weather’s nice.”
“Indeed.”
Yuri had whined about not wanting to come out until we reached the door, but once outside, he hummed as if he had never complained.
Seeing that made me laugh.
“See? It’s nice to be out, right?”
Yuri squinted his eyes and raised our intertwined hands. Naturally, my hand, tightly clasped with his, followed suit.
“There are many nice things, but walking hand in hand with you is the best.”
Yuri’s hand was as large and warm as always.
“Come to think of it, this might be the first time we’re walking hand in hand.”
“We did hold hands briefly during the summer festival. There were too many people.”
“Right. That was fun.”
The bracelet I had put on Yuri’s wrist that day was still there.
‘I never imagined back then that we would get married.’
Many events I experienced after coming to the capital flashed through my mind.
Whether in difficult times or happy moments, Yuri had always been by my side.
I felt grateful and happy for that, and I smiled broadly. Seeing this, Yuri turned to me and asked.
“Why are you smiling?”
“Because I like you.”
At my spontaneous response, Yuri paused momentarily. His cheeks turned red as he narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
“Why are you suddenly saying sweet things? Makes me want to go back home.”
I chuckled softly and replied.
“Let’s just check what’s been happening at the Magic Tower.”
“What?”
“Then we can do whatever you want.”
At my response, a mischievous smile spread across Yuri’s face.
“You promised.”
‘What exactly does he plan to do?’
Feeling a bit anxious and without a chance to ask questions, Yuri snapped his fingers, and we were instantly transported.
“Come on in.”
In a flash, we found ourselves standing in front of the Magic Tower. Looking up at the pitch-black building made me feel a little nervous.
Come to think of it, the Tower Master always came to our house. This was my first time visiting the Magic Tower.
‘What could possibly happen? Anyway, the mages are probably more interested in Yuri than in me.’
Trying to reassure myself, I stepped into the Magic Tower, only to be unexpectedly greeted by a rush of mages running towards me, not Yuri.
“Master, I did it!”
“Master, me too!”
Wait, when did this strange title of “Master” become so widespread in the Magic Tower?
“Please call me Titiana instead of Master. But what did you do?”
It was odd enough that people I didn’t even know were calling me so familiarly, and it seemed they had some business with me.
Before I could ask what was happening, they suddenly thrust flowers at me.
“These are the flowers whose color changed. They were originally yellow!”
“I even managed to turn mine gold!”
“Oh, I see. Both of you are amazing.”
But why are you showing this to me…?
Before I could ask why, they scurried away, bickering just as they had arrived.
“Hehe! We got recognized by the Master!”
“I was faster, though!”
“Then, shall we bet on who can create the flower of enchantment first next time?”
“Sure!”
I couldn’t follow their conversation at all. Holding the flowers, I turned to Yuri in bewilderment.
“What do they mean by recognition?”
Yuri shrugged, seemingly as clueless as I was. It made sense since he’d been with me the whole time.
‘So, who should I ask?’
Just then, a familiar face appeared, waving a hand gently.
“Hello, Master! Did you have a good rest?”
It was Bradley. Seeing him in his usual garish green shirt made me frown.
“Please stop using that strange title. Everyone calls me that because of you, Bradley.”
“Isn’t it better than calling you by name without caution and getting killed?”
“Stop exaggerating. Who’s killing whom?”
“Well…”
Bradley started to glance at someone but then laughed excessively and changed the subject.
“Hahaha! More importantly, did you see the mages working hard on the products you mentioned?”
Products?
“Oh!”
That’s when I remembered the conversation I had with Bradley before getting married.
“So, the mages who rushed over earlier to show me the flowers were connected to you, Bradley.”
“Yes. I set it as a task for becoming a skilled mage, something you assigned, Master.”
Bradley, with a playful grin, explained what had happened at the Magic Tower in my absence.
“Flowers are more fragile than you’d think, and casting magic on them isn’t easy. If the calculations are slightly off, they explode, and everyone who initially thought it was simple ended up dedicating themselves to it, even skipping meals. They improved their skills and completed the task you gave them, Master. Isn’t it a win-win situation?”
Before I could even respond, he vanished somewhere.
“I’ll be off to guide the juniors now!”
Is it normal for mages to just leave after saying what they want?
Left speechless, I shrugged at Yuri and asked.
“So basically, you’re making the mages create color-changing flowers for free?”
“It’s a bit harsh to say for free. It’s a training exercise, after all.”
If you’re making them work without pay, isn’t that free labor?
‘Anyway, thanks to Bradley, it looks like magical flowers will keep being produced.’
I fiddled with the stem of the flower in my hand and murmured with a serious expression.
“If we say they’re magic flowers made directly at the Magic Tower, they’ll sell like hotcakes. Should we even set up a shop in front of the tower?”
Yuri folded his arms and nodded slightly.
“Titi, you’re already wealthy. Do you want to earn more money?”
“Well, the more money, the better, right? Do you mind me working, Yuri?”
“How could I dislike what Titi does? It’s just…”
He tapped the flower lightly with his finger. The lovely pink flower instantly turned transparent, like Yuri.
When the suddenly beautiful transparent flower appeared, my eyes widened. Yuri kissed my cheek and whispered.
“I could make them much better. Wouldn’t it be wiser to partner with me?”
“…I can’t live.”
His playfully sparkling blue eyes seemed to be saying we should go back home and spend time together.
I hugged Yuri tightly and replied.
“Take care of me forever!”
Later, I would come up with various ideas and have a significant impact on distributing affordable and simple artifacts throughout the empire, but that’s a story for much later.
