“Wow, that’s too much.”
Hailo made a crying face while scrunching up his pretty face, but Padrid ignored it effortlessly as always.
“Well, it seems everything is settled then. You may all go attend to your duties now. Thank you for your work today.”
As everyone nodded and stood up, Ekision tried to slip away quietly.
“Sir Ekision, please stay where you are.”
“Ah…. that’s harsh.”
Ekision raised his hand again.
Everyone else left the office, leaving only Ekision and Padrid behind.
Horas mumbled while massaging his nape.
“The guild seems to have changed a lot in just a few days.”
“I feel the same way. And it’s just because one kid joined.”
“Maybe because she’s not just any kid?”
Gemvil and Hailo agreed.
“That’s true. Her ability is completely broken.”
“That’ll make her a target just as quickly.”
Gemvil said in an unpleasant tone.
Hailo nodded. It was true.
The kid had no idea, but she’d secured an executive position purely based on her ability.
A child with broken abilities in Cheiles, which already had many enemies.
It would be fortunate if she didn’t get swept away and disappear as soon as she stepped outside.
“The guild is safe though.”
Jin, who had been walking quietly beside them, said.
Horas stretched and put both hands behind his head.
“That’s true.”
“Since it’s come to this, let’s work hard to nurture her. She’s so, so cute. Ah, I’m going this way.”
Hailo winked as he turned towards the opposite corridor.

“Blegh.”
Rodi threw up everything she had eaten as soon as she came out.
Her stomach wasn’t even hurting, but suddenly ss soon as she was alone, the nausea came up as if all the tension had been released.
“Ugh.”
Tears welled up slightly.
Blegh, she retched again.
“Are you alright?”
Bender, who had followed her into the bathroom and had been patting her back and watching over her, asked carefully.
Although both Jin and Bender were in charge of Rodi, they only provided minimal assistance.
Except when absolutely necessary, Rodi had to do everything by herself.
They wouldn’t look after her or move unless Rodi specifically asked for something.
Though they did explain things in advance.
Even then, they naturally avoided being present when she was with Eclise or Lord Lexiard.
But today, thinking something wasn’t quite right, Bender had followed Rodi when she immediately headed to the bathroom after leaving Eclise’s room.
“I’m fine!”
Rodi answered energetically despite having just thrown up.
Bender took out a handkerchief and carefully wiped Rodi’s mouth after she had rinsed it.
Then she took something out of her inner pocket and held it out to Rodi.
It was black, about the size of a fingernail, and round.
It was wrapped in paper, looking somewhat like candy but also like a ball of black soil.
“Please eat this.”
When Rodi hesitated, Bender broke the round thing in half and offered it.
“What is this?”
Although Rodi loved food, somehow this was difficult to put in her mouth.
What Bender had taken out had a smell that made her want to avoid it like medicine. It seemed like it would be very bitter.
“It will calm your mind. I eat it often too.”
“What?”
“I take it when I’m surprised, anxious, or when I feel sick after seeing something unpleasant.”
“…..”
It must be medicine.
Rodi carefully accepted half.
“I’ll eat it. Thank you!”
Bender smiled faintly.
“It would be better to take it with water. Let’s go to the dining hall.”
Bender stood up and extended her hand to Rodi.
Rodi, who had been staring blankly at the medicine, looked up at Bender.
Then her face gradually brightened, and she soon smiled broadly.
“Okay!”
And she headed to the dining hall with Bender even more energetically.
Somehow, Rodi felt her stomach settling even before taking the medicine.
***
That night.
Rodi came out of her room with her stomach feeling much better.
She had woken up late at night after sleeping from taking the medicine and couldn’t fall back asleep.
But as soon as she came out, she encountered Gemvil sitting on a bench in the corridor.
With a towel roughly draped around his neck.
“Mister.”
Rodi greeted Gemvil, who had looked up at the sound of the door opening and scurried over.
“It’s Gemvil.”
He seemed to have just bathed, as his hair was wet, and somehow he looked quite tired, like a waterlogged cotton ball that had settled down.
Sure enough, he let out a heavy sigh.
“Are you tired?”
“No.”
Rodi, without sitting down beside him, fidgeted around and took out candy from her pocket to offer to Gemvil.
It was candy that Lord Lexiard had given her earlier when leaving, saying they’d see each other tomorrow.
Since coming here, she had learned that she could eat whenever she wanted and as much as she wanted until her stomach burst, without anyone saying anything, and naturally her appetite had been decreasing.
“What’s this?”
“Candy.”
“You eat it.”
“If you eat this, you’ll feel better.”
Rodi refused his refusal and forcefully placed the candy in his hand.
This was given with great consideration, though Gemvil didn’t seem to realize it.
Gemvil awkwardly accepted it and stared straight ahead.
“Everyone else has gone home.”
“I know.”
The executives weren’t much different from other employees.
After finishing their daily duties, they would return home to rest.
Even Bender, who stayed in the dormitory somewhere in the building, had left after bringing Rodi her pajamas.
Rodi had also sat down on the bench by now and was dangling her feet while looking straight ahead like Gemvil.
An awkward silence fell between the two.
“Don’t be kind to just anyone. The disadvantages outweigh the advantages.”
“The candy?”
“Including that. If you want to last long here, draw your own safety line.”
At his casual but stern words, Rodi nodded.
“Okay, I got it!”
After saying that, Rodi casually rummaged through her pocket.
Another candy appeared in her small hand.
Rodi abruptly held it out to Gemvil again.
Gemvil frowned at the sight.
“I just told you.”
“Yeah, I know. But I still want to give candy to Gemvil.”
“…..”
Gemvil looked at Rodi more clearly than before.
Rodi was also staring straight at Gemvil.
He had thought she was thoughtless and couldn’t understand what was being said, but it seemed she had understood his words exactly.
Moreover, she was expressing her opinion through her small hand, as if directly confronting his words.
Yes, I understood, but you’re the exception.
In her own way of communicating, whether right or wrong.
Maybe because she was small, or because she was weak.
She reminded him of someone.
‘Come to think of it, even the name is similar.’
Gemvil shook his head to clear away the dark thoughts and unwrapped the candy in his hand, popping it straight into his mouth. The remaining one went into his shirt pocket.
“It’s delicious!”
“It’s okay.”
Gemvil, still chewing, called out to Rodi again.
“Did you mention the red-haired woman?”
“Huh?”
“Earlier today, to Lord Lexiard.”
“Ah, yes!”
“She was an assassin who came from outside. I told Eclise that you caught her.”
Gemvil had started searching as soon as he heard from Lord Lexiard earlier.
She had been quite quick, managing to infiltrate another building and kill a servant, hiding the body in a storage room, which had caused some trouble, but they were able to capture her without further damage.
She wasn’t a thoroughly trained assassin, just a small fry sent to muddy the waters.
The real trained assassin must be somewhere else.
Thanks to this, they learned about another infiltrator, so Rodi’s eyes had been helpful.
It seemed she had planned to move during the exact time when the second floor would be empty, but had accidentally encountered Rodi.
They probably didn’t know about Rodi’s existence when gathering information to infiltrate this place, so they must have been caught off guard by an unexpected person.
“It’ll be reflected in your achievements tomorrow.”
When Rodi didn’t understand right away, he added a brief explanation, “It means you’ll get credit for catching her.”
“Me? Why?”
“Because we caught her easily thanks to you.”
It was more like a lucky coincidence for the person involved.
But since no one else could have seen through clothes just by bumping into someone, it was indeed Rodi’s achievement.
“But Gemvil was the one who caught her.”
Gemvil stood up from his seat. It was time to move for his next duty.
Gemvil patted his shirt pocket.
“Payment for the candy. Go to sleep.”
He quickly walked away.
“Okay, good night!”
Rodi waved at the back of Gemvil’s head.
Gemvil, who had been walking away indifferently, briefly waved his hand before disappearing.
