I'm A Sucker For Extras - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
The happy moment quickly passed.
Soon after coming to his senses, Brody pushed him away and stepped out of his embrace.
Feeling a bit disappointed, Aidan let go of Brody.
“Are you okay?”
However, her voice still sounded shaky.
“I’m fine, perfectly fine.”
Aidan smiled to reassure Brody.
But soon, he realized it was a meaningless gesture.
It was too dark to see each other’s expressions.
So, he awkwardly used both hands to find Brody’s face. Then, he gently pressed his forehead against hers.
“Look, we’re both alive.”
As their noses lightly touched, Brody shivered as if feeling a tingling electric sensation.
This is not the time for this.
If they continued like this, they might lose their minds.
Brody angrily pushed him away, trying to hide her embarrassment.
“I hope you’re okay. I don’t even know if I’m dead or alive right now.”
She extended a comforting hand.
Suddenly, a soft, bluish-green light started falling from the seemingly pitch-black cliff above, resembling fireflies.
Aidan looked at the falling cluster of light with a delighted expression. It looked like sparkling snowflakes from the north.
However, when the light clusters approached them, Aidan finally understood their true nature.
They were luminescent flower petals.
Scattered petals covered their surroundings and piled up between them.
Aidan reached out and caught one of the petals.
In the soft and warm light, they could barely recognize each other.
A surreal glow adorned Brody’s eyes with a mysterious sparkle.
Aidan began to doubt if this was really not a dream.
In this dim world, it felt like they were the only two existing beings.
He thought it would be okay for them to stay like this for the rest of their lives.
Although it was her doing, Brody couldn’t take her eyes off the falling petals for a while.
One of the petals, falling into Brody’s line of sight, landed on Aidan’s head.
Naturally, Brody started looking at Aidan.
He looked at her with a gaze full of affection and a joyful smile.
As if he found her irresistibly adorable.
Their gazes became entangled.
Brody’s heart began to beat uncontrollably.
But soon, she shook her head and regained her composure.
There was no time for this.
“It’s a glow flower. So, it received sunlight from above and is glowing for a moment. The light will fade away soon.”
She reached out to the falling petals with a soothing touch.
Then, a bluish-green light, resembling a glow-in-the-dark, descended from the seemingly dark cliff above.
Aidan looked around with an amazed expression. A thick layer of moss, about two handspans thick, covered the area within a radius of about 3 meters.
The dampness on his back was from moss.
Touching the moss made Aidan realize it served as the cushion that saved his life.
“Are you injured anywhere?”
Aidan moved around, checking his body’s condition.
“Seems fine.”
Brody nodded, exhaling a sigh of relief.
She took off her cloak, collected glow flowers on it, and raised it high.
Although it wasn’t enough for proper lighting, it helped distinguish the ground.
More than anything, it had a charming atmosphere.
“Alright. Let’s go. Oops.”
As Brody tried to stand up, she suddenly wobbled.
Aidan caught her by surprise.
Since she had taken off her cloak, her short-sleeved, flowing dress exposed her bare skin directly to his touch.
“Hmmm, are you okay?
He asked, trying to conceal the fact that his face seemed to be heating up.
“I don’t know. It’s the first time I’ve experienced something like this.”
Was it because she suddenly used a lot of power? Or was it because she was on her first adventure, falling off a cliff?
Her surroundings spun, and her legs felt shaky. It seemed like her body wanted to collapse immediately.
As he leaned on him, seemingly wanting to fall at any moment, he lifted Brody without hesitation.
Brody simply let Aidan lift her because she was not confident enough to walk on her own two feet, even if she refused.
While holding flowers and Brody, Aidan began to walk.
The lower part of the vertically falling pit seemed to be connected to a long, horizontal cave.
As they carefully walked, avoiding slippery rocks, a crumpled, arch-like shadow appeared at the end.
It was the exit.
When they reached the shadow, a clattering sound, “kwakwakwakwa,” struck their ears.
Entering the sunlight beyond the boundary of darkness, Aidan doubted his own eyes.
About 10 meters in front of him, a waterfall that seemed easily visible was cascading down.
The space was neither inside nor outside of relief. It was a strange space.
Like a circular arena, the surroundings were surrounded by cliffs, but the ceiling was open, revealing the sky.
And on one side, a waterfall cascaded down, creating a small lake on the ground.
It is said to be small, but it looked more than 100 meters wide.
One side of the wall had a hole, which served as a doorway, and the stagnant water seemed to flow out in that direction.
“Amazing.”
He uttered words while looking at the scenery, and when he emerged into the light, the sight of both of them was truly amazing.
Hair disheveled, skin covered in scratches, and clothes torn.
Since it was buried in moss, it was covered with black and moist stains all over the body.
Aidan carefully set Brody down near the water.
“Shall we wash up a bit?”
Brody nodded at Aidan’s words.
With a mixture of awe and joy in her eyes, Brody stared at the water flowing generously.
Then, Aidan took off his shirt and stepped into the water with enthusiasm.
Having battled with Brody under the scorching sun, his body was covered in sweat.
Although he was accustomed to the cold, he suffered under the heat.
Entering the cool water, he felt as if his body would revive.
He suddenly realized the dirtiness of his appearance.
Thinking, ‘I’m glad she can’t see my dirty body,’ he vigorously cleaned himself.
Brody, looking at Aidan with a seemingly joyful expression, smiled.
She sat near the water, where he had set her down, and cautiously dipped her foot into the water.
Although it felt better under the warm sunlight, she recoiled in surprise when the water touched her foot.
The water felt like ice.
Although she wanted to remove the moss, she wasn’t confident about going into the water.
Taking out a handkerchief from her cloak, she dampened it in the water and wiped herself off.
On the other hand, Aidan marveled at the opposite sensations of temperature between him and Brody.
‘The water is surprisingly warm.’
In Iter Hiel, where his castle was located at the northernmost tip, there was rarely a shortage of water due to glaciers. However, plants couldn’t grow well due to the cold.
The northern region between the far north and the central part could sustain some vegetation, but water was scarce. Especially in a drought year like this, it could be fatal.
Aidan admired the richness of the south, wishing he could transfer that abundance to the north.
‘The north…’
Suddenly, his heart felt heavy.
Although he trusted River, he needed to return quickly.
He looked at Brody.
Brody, with untied hair, was using a towel to wipe between strands.
Although it was a beautiful sight, there was something uncomfortable about it.
Approaching, Aidan took the towel from Brody’s hand.
“I’ll help you.”
Brody sighed with a somewhat resigned expression.
In contrast, Aidan was continuously cheerful, not caring about anything.
With rough strokes, he thoroughly cleaned her.
He removed the moss and wiped away the dirt from the exposed areas.
“This is unusual.”
Brody chuckled at his words.
“Receiving a Lord’s treatment.”
Aidan replied seriously, “As much as you want.”
He soon noticed the condition of Brody’s palms.
There were rope-like scars all over the palms.
“I was coming down holding a vine earlier. I knew there was moss underneath, but I was scared to just fall off.”
“Don’t do that next time. I was more scared to see you jump than to see me fall.”
“Then should I let you die?”
It was a valid point.
The cave floor was full of rocks.
If Brody hadn’t come down, if the moss hadn’t been laid down, Aidan wouldn’t have been able to step on the northern land again, let alone preserve his form.
Deciding to jump over the pit was a half-baked gamble.
When calculating the width, he wasn’t sure if he could make it.
However, since Brody crossed there, even if he fell short of the jump, he thought there would be a way.
If Brody saved him, he would live, and if not, he might die.
The gamble was successful, but Aidan’s heart was not in a good place.
He hadn’t thought that Brody would be in such danger.
‘But, on the other hand, it was also a relief.’
She had gone to such lengths to save him.
She did not wish for him to die.
In this contradictory feeling, Aidan furrowed his brow.
“Does your head hurt?”
“Not really. I took some medicine after getting up today.”
“Oh, medicine!”
Brody slapped Aidan’s arm with a thud.
He had just taken off his shirt, and since it was wet, it made a crisp sound.
It wasn’t very painful, but Aidan looked at Brody in surprise at the unexpected situation.
“How can you throw away something I worked really hard to make?”
“Uh, sorry. It must have been a difficult medicine to make.”
Brody found it difficult to explain and fell silent.
She didn’t want to reveal how the method to alleviate Aidan’s headache worked.
He smiled at Brody, who was making a difficult expression.
In the North, she was usually expressionless, so it was pleasant to see her expressing emotions.
While looking at her like that, Aidan suddenly turned his head.
The thin clothes from the South, with his arms exposed, clung to his body due to moss, revealing the curves of his body even in the faint humidity.
So Brody was trying not to look as much as possible.
Brody’s strangely flushed face added to the stimulation.
Only then did he realize that Brody’s condition was strange.
She had a high fever and was trembling, and her lips were tinged with purple.
“Brody, why didn’t you tell me you weren’t feeling well?”
“I was about to tell you.”
Thinking, ‘Because I feel good,’ Brody said something else with her mouth.
Aidan was bewildered and at a loss.
He had often seen guys in pain, but somehow, seeing Brody in pain made him feel like her delicate body would crumble and disappear.
As Aidan was about to say something, Brody laughed.
She turned her gaze away from Aidan and looked at the ground.
Perhaps because of the fever, her face was flushed.
“Let’s go home. To my home.”
