When they walked to the beach, the white sand and sea stretched out before them. The blue waves occasionally sparkled white in the sunlight, accompanied by the sound of crashing waves and a gentle breeze. It gave off a refreshingly cool feeling.
Kana walked on the sandy beach with her fingers interlocked with Kiriel’s. Thanks to him thoroughly matching her pace, it was fine to walk slowly.
In the quiet atmosphere, her lips slowly parted as she looked around at the scenery.
“I felt it when we first arrived, but the scenery is truly beautiful.”
“Yeah, do you like it?”
“Yes.”
“Then we should come play here together often in the future.”
“I’d like that.”
Kana silently laughed while looking at the excited Kiriel. He suddenly spoke up as if remembering something.
“Oh right, are you not summoning spirits?”
“Why so suddenly?”
Kana tilted her head sideways. Kiriel answered with an awkward smile.
“Ah, since this island is rich in natural energy, I was sure you would summon spirits.”
“No. Everyone said I should spend quality time with my husband during the honeymoon. We can see each other often now anyway, so they said they don’t want to interrupt our intimate time as a couple.”
Kana shook her hands with round eyes.
Even if the spirits had asked her to summon them on the island, she would have politely declined. Though they were precious partners, she wanted to focus more on her husband during their honeymoon.
Usually, spirits respect their contractors, but they fundamentally have pure, playful and self-centered aspects. Knowing this fact, his eyes that had widened in surprise soon curved beautifully.
“They’re all thoughtful and considerate spirits who take after their contractor.”
“Of course.”
Kana answered proudly while straightening her shoulders. Kiriel burst into refreshing laughter.
As they walked while occasionally exchanging brief conversation, the sky gradually turned into sunset colors. The blue sea also took on a reddish hue like the sky.
Kana gently swung their interlocked hands while looking at him.
“Should we head back to the villa?”
“Sure.”
* * *
They returned to the villa, took light showers and ate. Night had fallen while she spent time sprawled on the bed in her room. She changed into light, thin sleepwear.
“My lady, fighting!”
“Yeah.”
After Lena’s encouragement, Kana left the room and walked toward the bedroom. As she took slow deep breaths in front of the door, she heard her husband’s amused voice.
“Just come in.”
“I was going to.”
Kana immediately opened the door and went inside. He waved with a languid smile while leaning back on the sofa.
Though the loose black pants were one thing, the white robe he wore was loosely open, creating quite a risqué atmosphere.
Kana stared blankly at his firm, muscular chest before finally speaking.
“This is the first time I’ve seen you looking disheveled.”
“You’ll see it often from now on, what’s the big deal. More importantly, how about a drink before bed?”
Kiriel responded slyly while winking and lifting up an empty glass from the table in front.
She had been too distracted looking at him to notice, but there were two glasses and wine on the table.
Kana accepted while sitting across from him.
“Sure.”
“Here.”
Kana took the glass he handed her. Kiriel grabbed the wine bottle and poured first into her glass then his own. They lightly clinked their glasses together and quietly sipped the wine.
In the comfortable silence, Kana spoke up first.
“Come to think of it, in a way, tonight is our true first night.”
“That’s right. In ‘Aidel’s Flower’ we slept separately focusing only on the mission, and after marriage we lived apart working except for that one time we slept in the same bed when you fell asleep first.”
“Ah, I was so tired then. Sleep came flooding in as soon as my head hit the pillow.”
She shrugged while smoothly deflecting. Kiriel chuckled while swirling his glass.
“I understand. True to your diligent nature, you always try to finish tasks first when you have them.”
“Right. Wasn’t it good that we quickly finished the remaining work because of that?”
“Yeah, I feel more at ease now that everything’s handled.”
Kiriel acknowledged with a gentle smile. Though it was tight handling so much work in a short time, he endured thinking of their honeymoon and future.
As their glasses neared empty, he carefully brought up a topic while watching his wife’s reaction.
“By the way, that Alderaan Short…… became a non-existent being.”
“That’s how it always is when they exit. He’s probably collecting star ratings in another world by now.”
Though traces of her industry friend disappeared and were overwritten as others’ actions, Kana’s face and voice remained calm. Kiriel’s gaze deepened.
“If there hadn’t been an anomaly, would you have ended up like that too?”
“Yes. But it doesn’t matter now that I’ve settled in this world.”
“I’m glad I held onto you then. I would have regretted it forever otherwise.”
“Yes.”
Kana smiled slightly while watching her husband tightly grip the armrest.
Kiriel brought up a topic he’d been curious about but hadn’t dared ask before, riding the atmosphere.
“Kana, when you worked as a supporting character in other worlds, did you ever play the role of a lover or spouse?”
“Hmm, neither of those, but I did have a superficial engagement relationship.”
“……Really?”
“Yes, I was on the villain’s side then. I was a supporting character set to be dealt with after trying to punish the female lead by joining hands with the main villain because my fiancé who I one-sidedly loved fell for the female lead. Ah, for reference, that fiancé was the sub male lead and was set to not like me much.”
Kana added the explanation cynically with a snort. Given her personality, if it hadn’t been work she would have just taken what she needed and ignored their epic love story.
Kiriel shook his head with a hollow laugh.
“What a trashy person. You were too good for someone like that. Besides, it seems like justified anger as a fiancée, so why was she a villain?”
“Right? I guess it’s the difference in perspective.”
Kana sighed.
Kiriel had complex feelings. Though he was glad he met her thanks to her falling out with that bastard, he felt upset thinking about her hardships back then. He carefully asked while watching his wife’s reaction.
“……Did you like that bastard?”
“No. That was just the setting. You’re the only one I truly love.”
“Ah, really? That makes me happy.”
Kiriel grinned before standing up and lifting her into his arms to lay her on the bed. Kana blinked while lying on the soft bed as her husband leaned over her.
“Kiriel?”
“We finished the drinks so we should probably sleep now.”
His gaze was intense and hot, making everywhere his eyes touched feel flushed and burning.
Kana giggled while draping her arms over his shoulders and drawing circles on his nape with her fingers.
“Hmm, I’m wide awake and can’t sleep though?”
“Oh?”
His eyes sparkled at her cute seduction. Kana winked and deliberately let her words trail off.
“Let’s properly spend our first night together.”
“Alright. Remember, you said it first.”
“Of course.”
Their clothes slipped off as their bodies gradually overlapped.
* * *
Kana’s eyelids lifted as bright sunlight entered through the drawn curtains. She frowned and tried to get up but involuntarily flinched as her whole body ached.
‘……Ah, no wonder since we moved so intensely. I didn’t need to playfully encourage him.’
Though it was a very pleasant and passionate night, she lost consciousness first, unable to handle his vigor.
Honestly, she thought it would be less intense since he was a mage, but apparently he wasn’t a romance novel’s sub male lead for nothing.
Kiriel sat on the edge of the bed looking at her.
“Kana, you’re awake.”
“Yes. Is it already afternoon?”
“That’s right.”
He was in a perfectly fine state. Kana unconsciously confirmed her clothes had been changed and asked while wrapping herself tightly in the blanket.
“When did you wake up?”
“In the morning.”
“……Wow, that’s amazing. Weren’t you tired?”
Kana was shocked before giving him a serious look. Kiriel shrugged.
“Yeah. Since you fell asleep earlier than expected.”
“……More like passed out than fell asleep.”
Kana sighed while subtly avoiding his gaze. Kiriel flustered uncharacteristically while comforting her.
“Sorry. I couldn’t control myself because it felt too good.”
“It’s fine. I enjoyed it too.”
Kana generously let it pass. Kiriel’s eyes sparkled playfully.
“Then……”
“I want to rest now.”
“Alright.”
He obediently just fixed her hair and lightly kissed her forehead and cheeks.
Kana naturally summoned Celia. The wind spirit looked between the married couple with a puzzled expression.
[Huh? Is the honeymoon over already?]
‘No, I summoned you to help recover my energy.’
Kana let out an awkward laugh. Celia was shocked and stammered.
[D-Don’t tell me from night activities?]
‘Well, yeah.’
Her cheeks and ear tips turned slightly red as she lowered her head. She felt a bit embarrassed discussing such topics with her long-time partner.
Fortunately the spirit helped silently and her physical condition improved considerably.
Celia glared at her contractor’s husband with triangular eyes before puffing up her cheeks. The light breath of wind from the spirit’s open mouth completely messed up Kiriel’s hair.
While he pressed down his hair after suddenly getting hit by a wind, the spirit dismissed itself and left. Kiriel muttered while fixing his disheveled hair.
“Ah, the spirit got angry.”
“……Haha.”
Kana laughed awkwardly. Since it showed how preciously the spirit thought of its contractor, he wasn’t particularly displeased.
Kiriel gently stroked her back while shaking off the spirit’s energy.
