The Only Way to Break the Curse is Through Contact with You - Chapter 54
#54
I wasn’t so stupid as to not know what it meant to be the kind of person who watches someone’s every move, tries to stay close to them, and gets jealous when they’re with someone else. I was just deliberately pretending not to know until now.
Diart was the protagonist of this world and there was a female protagonist to follow. The last thing I want is to interfere and end up with the same ending as the original story. That’s why I hoped that his actions were not a sign of affection towards me.
“But now I can’t pretend not to know anymore.”
I never expected Diart to say that at that moment.
“Be with me. Let’s have a proper relationship.”
Why did he suddenly make up his mind like that? Although he had been ambiguous before, he had never said it outright. I immediately thought of Crown Prince Jarvis. They had confronted each other with me in between at the imperial banquet.
“But what if both of them do this to me?”
What will happen to the original story then? Both male leads in the original story like me. I felt embarrassed even thinking about saying it out loud, so I coughed awkwardly and remembered what the fortune teller I met on the festival street said.
“The world as you know it has already begun to change. Don’t be afraid and don’t turn away from what you want. If you let your heart flow freely, you will surely achieve what you desire.”
What I want is to leave for another country unrelated to the original story and live a life of luxury. But now I was in a situation where I became entangled with the male leads of the original story. Come to think of it, that fortune teller wasn’t a fraud, was she? That moment when she asked for 2 gold coins seemed like a waste.
“But isn’t this Adelia’s position in the original story?”
It’s her who was caught between two people. Then, will a crack appear between the two because of me, leading to war and chaos, and the collapse of the imperial family, with Diart becoming the emperor?
‘That can’t happen!’
It was too terrible that not only did I suffer from this situation because of Adelia, but also that Leticia, Jarvis, and other people who are connected with me might die because of me.
I sat up abruptly. That was something I wanted to avoid. It was best not to get involved with anyone. I had to think of a way to escape from both of them.
Suddenly, I remembered the kiss I shared with Diart. It wasn’t just the energy from the contact, but the way the kiss made me forget to breathe for a moment.
“Crazy. This is crazy. Am I going crazy because of a kiss? Am I sexually frustrated?”
But under the moonlight, Diart was too…I imagined his wet face with his hair half swept back and grabbed my head, groaning and burying my face in the pillow.
“Did you forget that he’s a crazy bastard? Do you remember how much you cursed him?”
Don’t be deceived by his appearance! There are many men in this world who are much kinder and more considerate than that bastard, so why would you give up on life?
“Think of all the things that asshole has done to you!”
I tried to recall all the contempt, disregard, ridicule, humiliation, and persecution I had endured from Diart all this time, but it wasn’t easy. No matter what I thought of, it was overshadowed by Diart’s longing eyes that looked down on me.
In fact, the reason Diart had been so cold all this time was because of the previous Roeni. If I were stalked like that for over a decade, wouldn’t I act the same way? Maybe he’s not just a crazy person…
I quickly shook my head. How could a person change so drastically with just one kiss?
“Is this really frustration……..”
“I’m glad to hear that.”
Suddenly, a familiar voice interjected, and I raised my head from the pillow. Diart had been leaning against the bedpost, looking down at me. Water droplets from his hair, still wet from a bath, trickled down his neck.
“H-how long have you been here?”
“By that crazy bastard, you mean me, right?”
Ah, it seems like he didn’t hear my words about Adelia earlier. Thank goodness. I rested my hand on my chest and Diart approached, sitting on the bed. With his movement, his firm chest, tightly muscled, was revealed through the gap in his robe.
I tried not to look, but my gaze kept drifting in that direction, making me feel embarrassed. My frustration was evident.
“If you don’t dry your hair properly, you’ll catch a cold.”
“Are you worried?”
“Yeah, kind of.”
“Let me dry it for you.”
“Huh?”
My wandering gaze returned as our eyes met. What kind of situation is this? When I frowned and stared at him, Diart smirked.
“I can dry it for you if you want.”
Diart ran his fingers through my hair as he spoke. His gaze fixed on me with a strange intensity. I quickly moved away.
The Diart Wheaton I knew wasn’t a man who seduced naturally like this. Even when dealing with Adelia in the original story, he showed a domineering side. It made me doubt if he really was the male lead.
I turned my head away from Diart, who couldn’t take his eyes off me, and calmed my mind. I can’t lose myself, I need to stay focused.
“It’s late at night. Please go back to your room.”
“But this is my room. Where do you want me to go?”
Diart replied as if he didn’t understand. I pointed with my finger to the bedroom he had been using all this time.
“You’ve been sleeping over there all this time.”
“I’m pretty sure it’s sexual frustration.”
“What?”
“Haven’t you been stealing glances at my chest since earlier?”
“I-I never…”
Actually, I did. It was quite embarrassing how those tempting breasts kept stealing my gaze.
“Come to think of it, when you sneaked into my room last time, you were touching my chest.”
He seemed to be referring to the day when I possessed Roeni. The man who used to look at me with disgust as if I was a bug was now the one trying to seduce me first. Well, who knows how things will turn out with people.
“I would gladly give it to you now.”
I quickly grabbed his hand that was reaching to undo the front of my robe.
“Why have you been acting like this since earlier, seriously.”
“I’m in the same state.”
“What?”
What is he saying? Diart had a habit of omitting subjects when he spoke. Frowning, I followed his gaze and looked down. Between my disheveled robe, a white thigh was fully exposed.
“Eek!”
I let out a short scream and quickly closed my robe. Diart, whose head was turned to the side, smirked.
“Don’t turn around!”
I shouted and pulled the blanket to cover myself. Even without looking in the mirror, I could feel my whole body turning red. As I wrapped myself tightly in the blanket, Diart, who had turned his head back, suddenly reached out and touched my forehead.
“No fever. It’s fortunate that it’s not too hot since it’s summer.”
Diart’s voice carried a calm concern. He let go of my hand and stood up from the bed.
“You must be tired from walking for so long. Rest.”
“Are you leaving?”
The refreshing change in his attitude, which was so uncharacteristic of him just moments ago, caught me off guard, so I grabbed him and he pursed his lips.
“I don’t have the confidence to hold back.”
I frowned, not understanding what he meant. Diart patted my forehead and then went straight into his bedroom.
“What are you holding back… Hmph.”
Realizing too late what he meant, I buried my face in the blanket as if it were on fire.
‘I must be crazy, really!’
After struggling under the blanket for a while, I pulled my face out and looked at the bedroom where Diart had disappeared to.
“You can’t keep doing this.”
Imperial divorces were not easily revoked once the paperwork was submitted, and even if someone tried to appeal for it, the consent of both parties was required. So there was no chance of the divorce being canceled unless I agreed to it, but I was bothered by the fact that the other party was Diart.
“Surely the divorce won’t be cancelled or anything… right?”
I frowned nervously. I knew well about Diart’s influence in the Empire and his strong obsession.
And soon enough, I found out that my worries were not unfounded.
