- Chapter 5.2 - The Contradictory Emotions of the Dark Chancellor
Of course, that didn’t stop him from killing them.
‘She makes me angrier when I can’t even kill her.’
This was the first time he had encountered such an annoying opponent.
‘As expected of the author.’
She was stressing him out quite efficiently.
‘Yes, there’s no way a person like that would ever be intimidated by my inhumanity.’
He locked her up, limited what she could do, and showed her a horrible and bloody sight after she dared to find companionship in someone other than him.
By all accounts, he should have been considered insane, but what kind of mental state did Litrie have that she remained unaffected?
‘Probably because she’s the author,’ Seth concluded.
Since the author created him, she probably had already anticipated what he was capable of.
‘She’s not the kind of person who’s going to be surprised at the things I’ve done.’
The author had thought of leaving whenever there was an opportunity, and Seth had no intention of letting her go.
The value of the one who created the world was immeasurable.
Of course, Seth didn’t really want to know anything special about the world, being the kind of person who figures things out for himself.
Except for his childhood, everything he desired had always been within his grasp, and life had become mundane.
Although she appeared ordinary, since she was an author, Seth couldn’t help but hold onto the possibility that she had abilities he didn’t know about, and he clung to her out of fear.
By bringing up his past.
Seth Milan, a man skilled at manipulating people’s minds and hearts, didn’t believe in the concept of “heart.”
Hearts were very fragile things that crumbled in the face of money and torture.
But Litrie was weak in a strange way. Her conscience and guilt were those of an ordinary person.
So Seth stimulated this part of Litrie, preventing her from leaving him.
‘At that time, she was so lovely.’
At best, she was surprised, but someone whose thoughts were always unknown became clearly immersed in guilt.
Her black eyes held nothing but him.
‘You, who always looked at me as an inanimate object, were finally swayed because of me.’
Ecstasy spread across Seth’s wicked face.
His crimson lips curved up with satisfaction, and his eyes were filled with intense pleasure.
“Haa…….”
To be honest, Seth no longer had any regrets about his past. He had sufficiently avenged those who had tormented him back then, and now it all felt mundane.
As for the author who had brought about such a past…..
‘I didn’t want to be born, but after asking myself why you made me, I wanted to kill you.’
Why did she make him live in such a dull and uninteresting world?
However, such emotions were only a small part, and wasting time venting his frustrations was inefficient.
It would be more efficient to ask for a way to instantly kill the Knight Commander.
But the way the author looked at him was like looking at an inorganic substance, and that’s when he realized.
That no matter what he did, he was ‘nothing’.
But injecting different emotions into that gaze was quite enjoyable.
“Ah, Master,” Seth sighed her title, his voice almost dropping into a moan.
Since stimulating her conscience was so effective, Litrie no longer searched for gaps in the wall or rummaged through his study.
“Master…” Seth, with a blush on his pale cheeks, murmured in a melting voice. “I knew you would.”
Perhaps even if he had committed the same act on that day, she would have accepted him.
“Because you, who asked me to bury the damn gardener’s corpse, surely would have accepted me…”
He already knew about the fact that she had taken the initiative to go to the gardener’s grave. Surely, she expected it to reach his ears.
“Oh, you’re so lovely that I can’t resist.”
Despite not harboring resentment for the pain he had experienced in the past, Seth had still intended to kill the author upon meeting her.
He was so offended that she had dared to “create” him that he would erase her from the world.
How humiliating it would be for someone to die by the hands of their own creation, in a world created by that very person.
He was contemplating how to kill her, how to torture her, but as soon as he saw her, the negative emotions disappeared completely.
‘Yes, it was gone, as if someone had erased it. Even though I’m aware of this fact, I still want her.’
The only thing that remained was the determination to keep her in his arms.
“So why isn’t she eating?”
Back to square one, Seth flipped through the papers on his desk with a touch of irritation.
‘Was it because I was too hard on her?’
Just a few days ago, at the master’s request to bring an interesting toy, Seth had prepared a game board called “Eastern Play” made entirely of jewels.
‘I worked hard on that game.’
But what could it be that didn’t please her?
For the first time in his life, Seth was faced with a problem he didn’t understand, and he was annoyed.
‘She didn’t even mention that she liked my face.’
It was obvious she liked his face.
Apart from claiming it was her preference when he pretended to be asleep, just one second of eye contact would make her face visibly blush. Her heartbeat quickened too.
‘You’re trying to save face, aren’t you? You’re not going to let yourself lose to someone you created?’
His red lips twisted.
‘It’s pathetic, yet it’s…cute? The cuteness is the problem.’
Even with eye-rolling around to avoid his gaze and her obviously poor acting, she remained beautiful.
He was sure he could get her to fall for him. He used guilt to sleep with her. He felt no remorse for stabbing his opponent in a weak spot.
Yeah, he thought, once they slept together, the story would be over.
‘You’re willing to give me your body, but not your heart?’
His self-esteem was wounded.
Now, even if she was fed by hand, she would accept it and only twitch when her neck was licked. She didn’t push him away.
‘Ah, sweet and savory taste.’
Seth’s throat tightened at the thought of licking her soft flesh, but soon he became angry.
“What on earth is the problem?”
No matter how much he asked, there was no satisfactory answer, and Seth’s irritation grew.
“Haah…….”
The secretary knocked on the door and was stunned to hear his superior’s heavy sigh; the always smiling chancellor was never angry.
The pride of those who serve a competent boss who never loses his temper is very high.
“Your Grace, here are the documents that need your approval.”
“Thank you.”
The secretary, who had always been careful not to upset his superior, cautiously asked. He wanted to be of some help to his respected superior.
“Your Grace, are there any recent troubles bothering you?”
A faint twist passed through Seth’s lips, feeling the discomfort of his emotions being revealed on his face.
Though he was unaware of this, the secretary had added his name to Seth’s underworld ledger.
“Because your complexion doesn’t look good… I’m a bit worried because someone I know seems down.”
“I see,” Seth responded flatly.
The secretary, who had thought his boss was worried about something unexpectedly ordinary, saw a glimmer of hope. It seemed like he could be of some help.
There were only a few people who could make him worry like this.
The secretary, who was currently obsessed with romance, concluded that there must be a woman on his mind.
Because his boss’s expression perfectly matched that of someone suffering from lovesickness!
“Maybe you should give her a gift?”
Feeling uncomfortable with others interfering in his affairs, Seth clenched his fist tightly under the desk as he replied.
“I already did. But it seems like it didn’t alleviate her mood.”
Clothes, jewels, valuables, everything……..
He had given them, but it had elicited not even a twitch of an eyebrow.
That’s why Seth concluded that this woman must be of a high social status, to the point of being non-human.
She could be an exceptional author.
Especially since she created a bothersome and annoying figure like the Knight Commander, it wouldn’t be surprising if she was not in her right mind.
As Seth rationalized it in this way, his mind became slightly lighter.
“Hmm, how about you go somewhere with a nice view?”
“What?”
“Changing the environment can help change your mood. How about going to a beautiful place together?”
When the other person reacted, the secretary’s eyes sparkled even more.
“Recently, my lover, a lady I’ve been dating for a while, was depressed because she’d been through something bad, so we went to a rose park, which is quite popular these days, and being surrounded by all kinds of roses made her feel better-…….”
Listening to the story of the secretary, Seth pondered for a moment.
When she worked at the general store, she didn’t go out much, but at the mansion, she would spend all day in the garden.
‘She said she likes flowers and trees. She also said she likes the sea.’
He recalled the conversation they had before she became so reserved.
‘Even the most home-loving person would want to get out more if they were confined.’
Maybe her lack of energy was for a really simple reason.
“Oh, that’s a good idea,” the chancellor acknowledged. “Thank you.”
