“Let’s get a divorce.”

I endured for three years. I tolerated the servants treating me with disdain because of my low birth. I accepted being excluded from social gatherings.

I held onto the hope that one day, he would see me.

But no matter how hard I tried, I was nothing more than an obligation to him. So I did it.

I said the words I never imagined I would say in my entire life.

A brief silence followed, and then he answered, still unwilling to truly look at me, as though even this was a bother.

“Do as you wish.”

His response held no intention of stopping me or holding onto me.

And so, I divorced him.
