Act 0. Prologue
A blizzard was raging.
In the bitter cold, only the sound of a crying baby was clear. Amid the noise that was almost deafening, the maids only glanced at each other, hesitating to rush into the room.
The protagonist in the bedroom was the Duchess of Trisel.
She was both the sole spouse of the great lord they served and, undoubtedly, a woman who had committed adultery.
In their castle, she dared to betray their master. She dared.
At this moment, the maids merely exchanged glances, unwilling to enter the bedroom. They knew all too well what scene would await them inside.
They would only find the betrayer who had committed adultery and an illegitimate child who did not carry the duke’s bloodline. To them, a baby whose father was unknown meant nothing at all.
……Or so they thought.
Crash! Clatter!
Suddenly, a commotion erupted from inside. Perhaps a chair had fallen over. Maybe a basin had dropped somewhere.
One maid, unable to contain her curiosity, muttered a curse and opened the door.
The scene revealed both the midwife and the physician collapsed on the floor. Hearing the door open, the doctor rushed over and grabbed the maid by the collar.
“They said the lady committed adultery!”
The maid stared at the physician in bewilderment. She had clearly heard their master say it himself. That he had never once lain with his wife.
But why……?
“Look! See with your own eyes!”
The physician dragged the maid by her collar toward the cradle. The maid tried desperately to escape, but she couldn’t break free from the grip of someone so desperate. Her instinct screamed at her. Don’t look. If she looked, she would witness her own ugliness.
No, I don’t want to s-!
But the moment she finally gazed upon the newborn…
The maid could only turn pale and collapse. The baby, crying with tightly clenched fists, had hair color that was unmistakably, undeniably…
“What’s all this commotion?”
A calm voice came from behind, and the maid turned around in a daze. A man stood firmly at the doorway with the exact same hair color as the baby.
“Your Grace……”
Silver hair.
The silver hair that only the Trisel ducal family, said to be blessed by fairies, could possess.
The Duchess had given birth to a baby with silver hair.

Wait, is it supposed to say, “The Duchess has not committed adultery!”? The maid’s next inner thoughts don’t seem to match.
