After Declaring Divorce, My Husband Became Lewd - Side Story (Part 5)
The sea was indeed a deep crimson, just as rumored. The scene, like pouring out a glass of wine, was fascinating. With every incoming wave, white foam rose on the sand, and the fragmented sunlight on the water sparkled like jewels.
“Wow! There’s really a sea in the color of grapes!”
Richmond squealed with excitement, leaping around. As they approached the churning waters, Richt stayed by his side, steering him away from the deep end. Due to the periodic surging seawater, both of them ended up with wet pants.
Pulling up the hem of her dress, Isabelle kicked off her shoes and dipped her feet into the sea. The refreshing waves swept over her ankles. Richmond splashed her feet and giggled. Then, as he felt something under his foot, he used his small hands to bring something up from the sand.
“Daddy, there’s something here!”
What he held in his hands was a small seashell with a white base and vertical grooves. Richt held it up to the sunlight, curious to see something he’d only seen in books.
“Be careful. The sharp parts can hurt your hands.”
“It’s really pretty in person. Can I take this home?”
“Sure. There are many with different colors and shapes, and some are even larger.”
“I want to collect more. I’ll give half to Lucas, put some in my room, and give a few to Lucy’s house.”
Lucy was the name of Richmond’s small goldfish.
“You need to diligently search, then.”
“Dad, help me find them too!”
While talking only about swimming throughout the journey to Baysaren Island, the child was captivated by seashells. Richt did as Richmond asked and together they searched for shells.
As they pawed through the sand, the hard shells were easily stepped on. This time, Richt washed the shell ashore with the incoming waves. It was larger and darker than the one Richmond found earlier.
“It’s much bigger than mine.”
Comparing the two shells, Richmond decided to look for a larger one himself.
After about 30 minutes of this, he had a pile of colorful shells. Richmond, showing signs of boredom, had quickly lost interest. Richt moved toward the ocean and said.
“Now, shall I teach you to swim?”
“Okay!”
Richmond left the shells he’d been collecting with Isabelle and ran over to Richt as he tossed aside his outerwear. Richt, throwing off his clothes too, embraced his approaching son with both arms, lifting him lightly.
Isabelle watched with a smile from a few feet away, the intimate scene of the two men. There was a time when she couldn’t even imagine such a day would come.
All the misunderstandings, the jeopardized relationships between her and Richt, the painful memories they couldn’t let go of, the moments of intense hatred mixed with love—all of it now felt like a distant dream.
At one point, she wanted to erase all her memories, but now she was grateful to remember everything. Living life, she didn’t know if, someday in the distant future, they might once again be captivated by their own emotions and unable to see each other properly again.
Still, it was okay. If the person in question was Richt, Isabelle felt confident that she could face him honestly, overcome challenges, and love him.
After all, they had the fruit of their commitment—Richmond. That alone was more than enough.
“Mom!”
“Isabelle.”
From a distance, her beloved husband and son were calling her. Isabelle waved with a wide smile.
The sun shining down on them felt warmer than ever.
