Prologue
Inside the bed, concealed by thick drapes, the disheveled sheets hinted at last night’s events.
“Hmm.”
A deep, muffled breath escaped.
On the bed, a man lay face-down, his bare back exposed, seeking sleep. His arm twitched. His hand, moving in his sleep, suddenly paused.
His fingers hesitantly searched the space beside him, but found nothing. Realizing he was alone, the man opened his eyes and sat up.
He glanced around, just in case, but his expression twisted.

He stared at the spot where her warmth had disappeared, biting his lips.
