- How to Survive as a Physical Healer in a Dark Reverse Harem Game
- Chapter 2.1 - Knight Commander Nox
During his unconscious state, Nox Leias, the Empire’s youngest Knight Commander, had a terrible nightmare. A Grade 1 demon beast wearing the shell of a human woman with peculiar pink eyes suddenly claimed she would heal him and then his organ….
“Hah!”
Nox bolted upright at that memory. The white sheet covering his body slipped down, revealing his tightly muscled frame. His exposed skin was flushed red all over. Breathing heavily, Nox reflexively looked down and bit his lip.
His center, which had been dormant his entire life except for physiological responses, was now twitching and leaking fluid. To think he’d become like this just from recalling that shameful memory.
‘That woman, what did she do to me?’
He must have been cursed. Otherwise, his body, which had lived purely in service to God, would never react this way.
Gritting his teeth, Nox raised his head while trying to ignore his weeping member. Instead, his eyes took in the familiar bedroom located within the Grand Temple.
How did he end up here? Could it all have been a dream? But the faint pain in his thigh confirmed that all those horrific events were real.
Scanning the bedroom with confused eyes, Nox began putting on the uniform that someone had neatly folded on the table. As he moved, memories of last night gradually returned.
Last night, news arrived of a suspected Grade 3 or higher demon beast appearing near the Margrave’s castle forest. Upon hearing this, Nox hurriedly led the remaining knights from the Grand Temple on patrol. They were ambushed at the forest entrance, and all members of the First Knight Order except him were killed.
He tenaciously tracked the beast and succeeded in cutting its core—its weakness—with his sword energy in the heart of the forest. But due to a moment’s carelessness at the end, his thigh was injured. As if fate would have it, the beast had paralyzing venom, leaving him completely immobilized when that woman appeared.
Pink eyes like dissolved cherry blossoms and curly snow-white hair. The woman wrapped in a robe thoroughly violated his center under the pretense of healing… Wait.
“The wound from the demon beast is healed?”
Nox’s fingers trembled as he unwrapped the bandage around his thigh while putting on his uniform pants. Like he’d been bitten by a mere wild animal rather than a demon beast, there wasn’t a trace of demonic energy in the half-healed wound.
As Nox stared blankly at his thigh in shock, light footsteps approached his bedroom before the door suddenly opened. The backlit shadow carried a tray with clean towels, a basin, and bandages.
The woman who naturally stepped into the bedroom paused when she saw him sitting on the bed.
“Oh? You’re awake.”
“…!”
It’s that woman. The one who had been churning his thoughts into chaos until just moments ago.
‘Why is she here?’
Ignoring the confused Nox, the woman—no, Evelyn—placed her tray on the table next to the bed.
“Why are you here? Did you follow me?”
“That’s a long story to explain. For now, shouldn’t you finish putting on your pants? I’ve been unsure where to look since earlier, it’s quite embarrassing.”
Despite her words about being embarrassed, Evelyn had been smiling brightly since discovering him awake. Only then did Nox realize he was still in the middle of putting on his pants, and his entire body turned bright red.
“This is because you came in without knocking!”
“I naturally assumed the Commander was still unconscious. It’s been four days after all.”
While speaking, Evelyn chattered about how she came to be at the Grand Temple. Right after he lost consciousness, the Second Knight Order, dispatched as backup from the Grand Temple, arrived at the forest. The Grade 2 demon beast they thought was dead suddenly revived and attacked the vice commander, forcing her to use her power in front of everyone.
Her overwhelming friendliness made it seem like they had known each other for years. She should have known better when she suddenly removed a dying person’s pants… Wait.
“…Don’t tell me you did that in front of everyone?”
Nox’s eye twitched as he glared at Evelyn’s back while fastening his uniform belt. Unable to bring himself to say the word ‘g*nitals’, Nox’s question made Evelyn tilt her head.
“That? What… Oh! Of course, I only did that to the Commander.”
“What do you mean ‘of course’! What you did to me was clearly a crime.”
“Couldn’t you think of it as treatment instead? I really didn’t want to do it unless absolutely necessary, but since the Commander is a Sword Master, my ‘Heal’ wouldn’t work. My magic tends to manifest strongly through bodily fluids, you see.”
The word ‘Heal’ that slipped from Evelyn’s lips made Nox’s blue eyes surge violently. Heal. A sacred ability possessed by less than 1% of humans across the entire continent.
If she truly was one of those extremely rare individuals who could manifest magic as healing ability, it would explain how the demon beast’s wound had healed.
However, he had never once heard of a healer who cured people by violating their g*nitals with their mouth. The same went for the claim about magic manifesting through bodily fluids. Nox’s blue eyes darkened as he watched Evelyn calmly facing the wall.
“If you truly are a Saintess blessed with special powers by our god Helios, why did you hide your identity and work as a maid at the Margrave’s castle?”
“I wasn’t deliberately hiding my identity. I only awakened to these abilities recently. You know how the timing of magic manifestation varies from person to person.”
Her answer was flawless, as if she had prepared explanations while he was at death’s door. Tying his constantly falling hair with a loose string, Nox walked toward Evelyn, who stood facing the wall, and asked.
“Every imperial citizen knows that those born with healing magic must mandatorily report to the Grand Cardinal or the Imperial Palace… Ugh.”
His thigh, which had been fine until moments ago, suddenly erupted in terrible pain. Nox collapsed in place, breathing heavily as if dozens of invisible needles were piercing his thigh.
At that, Evelyn, who had been facing the wall and deflecting all of Nox’s questions, turned around. Her gaze, betraying her anticipation of this moment, fell on the thigh Nox was clutching.
“As I thought, my skill level is still low- no, since I only healed it halfway, it must be quite painful.”
“That’s not for you to worry abou… What are you doing now?!”
Nox, who had been sitting there breathing heavily, was startled. Evelyn had suddenly approached until she was right in front of his face.
Every time Evelyn exhaled, her enchanting scent, like biting into a rose, invaded his keen sense of smell. So vividly that his barely suppressed center began to respond again.
Her red lips, moist even in the darkness, came so close they seemed about to burn into his retinas. He wanted to bite them. Startled by his own unexpected thought, Nox reflexively backed away until his back hit the bed’s headboard.
‘Damn it.’
Nox’s pure face contorted at the dull heat he felt in his lower body. Since encountering that woman in the forest at dawn yesterday, his body felt like it wasn’t his own. He couldn’t control it at all. It felt like he might commit acts he’d never done in his life if he let his guard down even slightly.
Misinterpreting Nox’s reaction as intense rejection and hostility toward her, Evelyn drooped her eyebrows dejectedly.
“Actually, I’m in quite a difficult position too. The Grand Cardinal personally requested me to treat the Commander. But even I have enough conscience to hesitate doing that to someone who’s unconscious.”
“By treatment, you don’t mean…?”
