Chapter 6
Amber was a practical person. Except for her obsession with marriage, she was cold-headed about everything, especially about herself. Besides, a man with such a face wouldn’t chase after an ordinary woman like her.
No, then there was really only one answer. With all the details he knew and everything else, she deduced the man was…
“Who wants to be a five-silver d*ldo anyway.”
The man grumbled.
“You bought me. And now you want to throw me out?”
“No. What I bought was a d*ldo…”
She’d bought a d*ldo at the general store, and now she had to take responsibility for a mysterious man who claimed to be that d*ldo. At least her grandmother was away, but she shuddered to think how shocked she’d be to see a n*ked stranger in her granddaughter’s room… Or maybe she’d cheer her on?
“So you’re going to throw me out?”
Lost in thought, Amber was startled as the man grabbed her arm with a sculpted face.
“Answer me. Are you going to throw me out?”
“……”
Amber couldn’t answer. She couldn’t even promise, falsely, not to throw him out. She wasn’t in a position, mentally or emotionally, to take responsibility for anyone.
“You don’t need me?”
The man asked again.
“No.”
To be honest, at that moment, she didn’t. She knew this change of heart was selfish.
Just as she was about to look up and apologize, Amber was startled.
“Geo…rge?”
The man had vanished without a sound. And… when she looked where he’d been, she saw the d*ldo lying there.
“What is this?”
Didn’t this mean the man had turned back into the d*ldo? No, not “didn’t it”—he really had.
Still… who wouldn’t question a person turning into a d*ldo—or a d*ldo turning into a person? At least Amber was the type to question it.
“……”
Think about it. Did the shop owner really sell this d*ldo without knowing its secret? Right now, he seemed the most likely suspect.
If so, she had to go to the port city. Right now!
“Ha!”
Amber managed to snap out of it, partly because she was worried the d*ldo might turn back into the man at any moment… but mostly because she was living in Napolia. In this tiny village, to get to town, she’d have to walk until her head felt hot or take a carriage,
‘This place really makes people work for no reason.’
If she wanted help from the neighbor who delivered to the port, she had no choice.
But when she finally got a ride and confronted the general store owner—when she asked, “Does this d*ldo really turn into a human?”—he looked at her like she was crazy.
“What turns into a human?”
“Uh… this d*ldo.”
“…Are you harassing me right now?”
“…No.”
A customer bringing in adult goods and asking strange questions in broad daylight—she could understand how the owner felt. But did he really have to be so serious?
From afar, the owner answered another customer asking about jewelry, saying it was nine silver, then looked back at Amber and muttered,
“Never thought I’d be harassed by a young lady.”
“But I bought it here. I can’t just take it somewhere else to ask…”
“Miss, I understand you want a refund, but you shouldn’t treat people like fools.”
“That’s not it…!”
“No refunds.”
“…Yes.”
Amber had no intention of trying to refund a mere five-silver d*ldo, but if she said anything more, she’d go from ‘crazy woman’ to ‘crazy woman who needs to be thrown out by the city guards.’
A little later, Amber left with nothing gained, her steps dragging.
‘Was it a dream?’
She was losing her mind. The d*ldo that had made her run around was annoyingly still. But if it was just a dream… then why would her body be tired since morning, and why would her slip stained with s*men be in her home’s trash can?
She started to worry if it was a cursed item.
‘Should I just throw it away?’
In this port city, someone else would pick it up quickly. If it found a good master, that would be good for the d*ldo… But what about her? She’d come all the way to the port city for two days in a row, and today she’d been suffering since early morning.
“Should I just throw it away?”
Amber felt a surge of emotion. Once again, five silver was hardly more than a meal, so throwing it away wouldn’t be a huge financial loss.
The real problem was not the d*ldo, but herself—subconsciously looking for reasons not to throw it away. It had already returned to its original form, and even as a person, he hadn’t hurt her, only begged not to be abandoned…
‘Most importantly, it helped me sleep.’
For Amber, who suffered from insomnia, this was crucial. She had her doubts about whether it was cursed, but she’d never heard of an object turning into a human.
So, she couldn’t just label it as bad.
‘Maybe it’s fine to keep it for now? It’s not like anything bad will happen if I throw it away later.’
With a rumbling stomach, Amber stopped wandering and made up her mind. She would put off the decision with a reasonable excuse.
* * *
Cities near the sea were always different from the noisy capital. Just a little away from the harbor, there were only quiet villages—houses on the fields and endless sea.
Napolia, where her grandmother lived, was one of the smallest. In this village, everyone knew everyone else… and even though Amber had only been there less than a month, there wasn’t a resident who didn’t know her, nor one she didn’t know.
It was something unimaginable in the capital.
Even now, Amber ran into a familiar face in front of the local grocery store. It was the carpenter who lived with a donkey.
“Where’s Merin?”
“Grandmother left because of her friend’s funeral.”
“What? Since when?”
“Yesterday.”
“Oh, Amber, you must be having a hard time. If you ever need an adult, come find me anytime.”
“I will. Thank you for saying so.”
She was technically an adult, but in his eyes, she was still a fledgling.
“Our Napolia Sweetheart, have a pleasant lunch. Haha.”
The man, a fan of actress Amber Sweetheart, finished his teasing greeting and Amber entered the store. Inside, the conversation was no different.
“Where’s your grandmother?”
As soon as she reached the display, a similar question came flying. Mrs. Ullyburn, with a fisherman husband, was in her early fifties and considered young in Napolia.
“She left because of her friend’s funeral.”
“Oh my! When did she left…?”
She covered her mouth in shock.
“Yesterday.”
“Oh my goodness! So you’re looking after the house alone?”
“Yes…”
Her dramatic reaction made Amber feel even more like a chick. If the owner hadn’t come out from the counter just then, Amber’s face would’ve turned bright red.
“Ma’am, can I ring this up for you?”
“I’ve been waiting forever, Gavin!”
“For someone who’s been waiting, you sure were chatting a lot.”
Gavin, the only kid her age, was the only son of the store owner and often worked the counter. As he handed back her change, Mrs. Ullyburn grumbled, “You should be grateful to Amber,” then turned to Amber and smiled.
“Amber, come have dinner at our house anytime. Gavin, you should get the change ready next time. Well, I’ll be off.”
“Goodbye.”
“Come again, Ma’am!”
Mrs. Ullyburn left with the only young people’s goodbyes echoing behind her.
“How about you, Amber?”
As Gavin turned to her, Amber quickly replied,
“Grandmother will be gone for a few days because of her friend’s funeral.”
“Huh?”
Seeing his confused face, Amber realized her mistake.
“You weren’t asking about that… were you?”
“What? Haha! I was just going to ask what you came to buy.”
“Ah… I hadn’t really thought about it.”
She blushed again. As Amber scratched her forehead, Gavin let it slide and recommended a menu.
“This has been selling well today.”
“I’ll take that.”
“Okay.”
He quickly wrapped up the thinly sliced meat she ordered, and tossed out a comment.
“Must be lonely by yourself.”
“Maybe.”
“I bet it is. Call me if you get bored. I can help with meals.”
He handed her the package smoothly, adding,
“I’d love to finally taste your amazing cooking. Your grandmother praises your skills so much.”
“She exaggerates.”
“I’ll be the judge of that.”
“Mmm…”
“So, will you invite me?”
“I’ll see.”
“That’s harsh. Oh! Or…”
Amber glanced at his hand still holding the bag, then looked up at him.
“Come have dinner at our house sometime. My mom’s fish dishes are amazing too.”
“No, I’ll invite you next time.”
“Promise?”
“Yeah. I’ll get going now.”
Amber replied politely and left. She didn’t feel confident without her grandmother, and if she stayed longer, she was afraid he’d set a date.
But when she got home, she regretted not just inviting him today. Back at her family home, eating alone was normal, but after living with her grandmother, her habits had changed. The table felt too big, and Amber felt unfamiliar.
She took out the d*ldo and set it on the table for company.
“Wow…”
In the daylight, the d*ldo looked impressive. It was so big she wondered if it could ever fit inside her, and the veins were so realistic it looked like an actual adult male’s organ.
She knew staring at a d*ldo in broad daylight was strange… but Amber reached out and touched it. The d*ldo just moved as she pushed it, with no sign of a will.
“Am I really bewitched…? Do I want to try it that badly?”
It had definitely become a person, moved, talked, and done such lewd things. It was real…
But Amber’s troubled mind didn’t last long.
“No point in worrying.”
Thinking wouldn’t solve anything. She needed to do what she could.
“Let’s go!”
After a quick meal, Amber rolled up her sleeves and got up. There was a basket of tomatoes that needed harvesting before they got too ripe.
* * *
A few hours later, Amber stared at the ceiling. Tossing and turning was boring, but she knew she wouldn’t fall asleep tonight.
She’d been like this ever since her engagement was broken. At first, she thought she couldn’t sleep because she was upset, and after a week, she just figured it happened sometimes.
But after a month, she realized—
‘Insomnia.’
It was insomnia. A kind of illness.
Amber tried to fix it. She read boring books, attended lectures, did light exercise, and since coming to her grandmother’s house, she’d tried calming her mind by watching the sea.
She really did everything she could, but nothing worked.
Amber let out a short sigh.
‘Maybe I should drink some warm milk…’
Her grandmother had noticed her condition, which even her father hadn’t, and would give her savory milk. It didn’t help much, but it calmed her, so it was one of the better methods.
But now, to drink milk, she’d have to put on slippers, get out of bed, turn on the kitchen light, and heat the milk for about three minutes. It was just too much trouble.
‘I’m just too lazy.’
Amber clicked her tongue but didn’t get up. Instead, she thought of last night, when she’d fallen asleep exhausted after wrestling with the d*ldo, and focused on the box by her bed.
‘Let’s try.’
Her goal was to fall asleep from exhaustion, and if she was lucky, maybe the d*ldo would turn into a person again.
There was nothing to lose, so Amber boldly pulled up her slip. She brought the d*ldo to her wet entrance, breathing nervously. She could do it. She had to be able to.
‘My fingers fit, so…’
She fumbled with the d*ldo’s tip, finally finding where her fluids were coming out, swallowed dryly, and tried to push it in.
“Mmm.”
Her entrance parted, but compared to her fingers, it was much too big. It wouldn’t go in, just caused pain, so she tilted her head back and tried to catch her breath. She felt like crying.
“Sigh…”
Was it supposed to be this hard? Maybe she should just go heat the milk instead—it took real effort, and the man was nowhere to be seen.
So, until a few seconds ago, Amber had been grumbling. She puts it that way because a few seconds later, a shadow fell over her body.
“Ah!”
A heavy weight enveloped her, and the familiar scent of the man filled the air. His solid body pressed her down, and arms slowly stroked her back.
“Master.”
His arms tightened, and their lower bodies met with heat.
Uh…
Uh…?
Uh…!
Could it be—?!
Amber’s eyes flew open in shock.
“I missed you.”
The man who had turned from a d*ldo to a person was, just like before, holding her n*ked.
