My Husband was Switched - Chapter 7
What on earth is all this?
I sipped my tea in the garden with a troubled expression.
“What I just saw wasn’t a mistake, right?”
“No, Your Highness. I also think I just saw a leopard running after a rabbit.”
“…Does everyone in the North keep a leopard in their garden?”
“I-I’ve never seen such a thing before either.”
The maid and I blinked in shock. The once peaceful garden seemed to have changed. It felt very wrong.
“Don’t move.”
“Y-Your Highness. What if next time it’s not a rabbit but us that gets eaten?”
“Hmm, that won’t happen.”
I waved my hand dismissively and popped a macaron into my mouth.
Flap, flap.
Hearing the sound of birds, I looked up to see all kinds of birds nesting and tweeting. Why was the once quiet garden now filled with animals?
“Tweet, tweet!” (There’s a lot of food here.)
“Tweet, tweet, tweet!” (This place is paradise. They even give us fresh rice.)
The excited birds were chattering and singing loudly from the trees. I could even hear the whispering of rabbits hiding in the grass.
“Eek, eek.” (Scary, that crazy leopard.)
“……”
The noise from the animals was giving me a headache. But I had to pretend not to understand. Otherwise, the perceptive animals would start bothering me.
‘I should stop having tea in the garden.’
And I needed to figure out why so many animals had suddenly come to the Grand Duke’s residence.
“Eek.” (Save me.)
At the trembling voice, I finally stood up. The leopard had spotted the rabbit and was charging madly. The maid, startled, screamed and grabbed my hand.
“Y-Your Highness! Quickly! We must run away!”
“Rien, it’s okay. If you panic, it will only get more excited. Calm down.”
“H-How can I calm down…”
In the end, Rien fainted at the sight of the approaching leopard. I extended my hand, showing my palm, and spoke.
“Enough. Running around the garden is making me dizzy. It’s troublesome if you disturb my peaceful rest.”
I already had a lot to think about, and now this chaos too.
“Grrrr.” (What’s with this human?)
I raised an eyebrow at the defiant leopard. Then I looked around and walked up to the leopard.
I smacked the leopard’s forehead with my hand.
“Where do you think you’re going!”
“Hiing, hiiing.” (Ouch! You could’ve just told me!)
“You weren’t in the mood to listen anyway.”
I crossed my arms and looked down at the leopard. It flattened itself on the ground and watched me cautiously. It felt like there wasn’t a single peaceful day.
“Alright, everyone, pay attention!”
At my words, the animals in the garden began to show themselves one by one. Despite the clear food chain, what was this combination?
‘A leopard, a rabbit, small birds, and birds of prey…’
This was chaos. I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.
It definitely needed to be sorted out. It was strange that so many animals had suddenly appeared in the garden, but if left as it was, it would become a mess.
“No bloodshed here. No bothering each other. If you want to hunt, go to the forest. Not in front of me.”
If they got hurt, they would come to me for help, and I’d have to use my powers to heal them. It wouldn’t happen just once; it would be continuous.
“That’s the rule. As long as you’re here, I’ll provide food. If you don’t follow the rules, you’ll be in big trouble!”
The animals held their breath at my words. They had no choice but to follow my commands instinctively because of my abilities.
“And remember to pretend that we don’t know each other in front of people. Now, disperse!”
At my command, the animals quickly scattered. Peace finally returned.
“Ah, much better.”
No one saw that, right? I looked around quickly but thankfully sensed no presence. Only then did I shake the fainted maid awake.
“Y-Your Highness?”
“Rien, are you alright? It’s okay now. The leopard left because it was full.”
“Oh… Thank goodness. I’m sorry. Please forgive me! I fainted and left Your Highness alone.”
Rien bowed her head and sobbed. Honestly, who wouldn’t faint with a large leopard charging at them?
I patted her shoulder reassuringly and smiled.
“It seems something strange is happening in the garden… I should go see the Grand Duke.”
“I’ll guide you right away.”
“Rien. I can go alone. You seem very shaken, you should rest.”
“But…”
Her body was still trembling. At that moment, I saw a figure with red hair walking in the distance. With that build, it must be…
“Sir Kaven!”
I raised my hand and called out to him. Startled by my loud voice, he turned his head. Seeing me, he quickly walked over.
“Y-You called, Your Highness.”
He spoke, still catching his breath. His chest heaved heavily.
“Catch your breath slowly.”
“Is there something you need…”
“Where is the Grand Duke?”
“He should be in the office.”
“I wanted to ask about the sudden increase in animals in the garden, but seeing what’s in your hand, I don’t need to ask.”
I looked at the lynx dangling from Kaven’s hand by its scruff.
“Meow.” (Save me.)
Its round eyes looked at me. So Kaven had brought animals to the garden. Seeing my gaze, he hastily hid the lynx behind his back.
“This is, well…”
“…Was it Sir Kaven who brought the animals?”
“It was the Grand Duke’s order.”
“The Grand Duke’s? Why?”
I asked, puzzled. Did he order animals to be brought to the garden? I couldn’t understand his reasoning.
“I need to go to the office. He’s there, right?!”
I pointed in the direction where Cedric should be. Sir Kaven quickly nodded at my words. His eyes were shaking fiercely.
“Are you taking the lynx with you?”
“Oh!”
Kaven hastily put the lynx down, and it ran to me, trembling. I nodded reassuringly, and it quickly ran deeper into the garden.

Cedric looked out the window, sensing the commotion outside. He saw Claire and Kaven. Noticing the lynx in Kaven’s hand, he scratched his chin.
“She seems satisfied.”
He thought she liked animals and made friends for her, but seeing her happy from behind gave him a strange feeling. He hadn’t expected her to be so thrilled.
“Since I made friends for her, she won’t mention divorce for a while.”
By meeting her needs one by one, she would be satisfied with the marriage. He just had to provide whatever she needed.
Cedric nodded and sat back down, focusing on his work.
“…Does she want a divorce because she lacks money?”
If that were the case, he could just increase her allowance. He had made a fortune from his time in the war. So it didn’t matter how much money he gave to Claire. Even if she spent extravagantly and demanded more money every day, it was better than a divorce.
Cedric frowned as he looked at the amount allocated to Claire. He didn’t buy clothes or have any other interests, so he had little use for money.
1000 gold. That was the weekly amount given to her. At least 4000 gold a month.
Considering that the monthly wage of commoners was 100 gold, wasn’t this enough? Then again, she might find it insufficient, having been part of the imperial family.
He crossed out the 1000 gold and wrote 2000 gold.
“This should be enough.”
At least she wouldn’t talk about divorce due to lack of money. He had made friends for her and allocated enough money. He felt frustrated, unable to understand Claire’s feelings.
‘I should call the butler and discuss this.’
Since the day he went to the forest with Claire, Cedric felt uncomfortable seeing her. Somehow, he felt strange. It wasn’t an unpleasant feeling, but it was something he had never felt before and couldn’t define.
Bang!
At that moment, the door burst open, and Claire stormed into the office, fuming.
“…Wife?”
Cedric tilted his head slightly and looked at Kaven standing behind her. Claire seemed very angry about something.
Kaven waved his hands frantically with a tearful expression. Cedric finally turned his gaze back to Claire.
“I’ll leave you two alone.”
Kaven tactfully left the room. Cedric sighed as he looked at the closed door and spoke.
“Wife, even though we are married…”
Honestly, it was still uncomfortable facing her like this. Yet, seeing her, he didn’t feel bad. Watching her fume, she even looked cute.
‘Cute?’
Had he really lost his mind? Finding her cute in this situation. Something was definitely wrong.
Just as Cedric’s worries deepened, Claire shouted.
“Divorce me immediately!”
“…What?”
His sharp eyes narrowed fiercely.
