The Beast Bit The Throat of the Late Empress - Chapter 20
“How…… When…… did you come, Lord Divlik.”
The moonlight seeping through the large window cleverly cast a shadow only on Divlik’s face as it hung on the window frame. Eva hurriedly sat up, arranging her disheveled hair and crumpled blanket as she asked.
“It seems the former empress sleeps so well even after losing her country.”
Divlik responded with a sarcastic tone, giving an answer that wasn’t really an answer. However, it was impossible to tell whether Divlik’s face, still hidden in the shadows, held the same emotion as his voice. The air around Divlik felt particularly heavy.
“Seeing the Former Empress like this, I can’t hide my feeling of resentment.”
“Resentment?”
“I haven’t been able to sleep peacefully for even a day since coming here.”
Resentful, said the voice mixed with a sigh from the darkness.
“Even though I’ve obtained the empire I wanted. I don’t know why I have this unsettled feeling, I’ve been thinking about it all night.”
Divlik was saying that the reason was Eva.
‘Surely not’ Eva thought, then gradually placed her feet and pushed her body backward, preparing to get off the opposite side of the bed.
Meanwhile, Divlik slowly rose from the sofa bed. Half of Divlik’s large body, covered only in a thin robe, slipped into the shadows along with his face.
“……Were you trying to die?”
“What……?”
“You knew that a horse was coming, yet you didn’t avoid it and stood on that road. Wasn’t that an attempt to die?”
Divlik deliberately brought up something that she thought wouldn’t be known.
“Did you want to escape that badly? From me?”
Divlik’s body moved one step further into the darkness. Feeling as if that appearance was like a beast that had pulled one foot back before pouncing, Eva turned her body to the opposite side to slip out of the bed at that moment.
“Did you think it would be possible?”
Divlik’s large and long shadow fell over Eva. Eva managed to turn her body, but ended up trapped under his, unable to escape anywhere from that prone position.
“What…… What are you doing, Lord Divlik.”
“Didn’t I tell you? To abandon any thoughts of escaping, even through death.”
The visibly large body weighed heavily on top of her, making it difficult for her to even breathe properly. Fortunately, hearing Eva’s voice that seemed to be choking, Divlik slightly raised his upper body by propping his left arm on the bed, but he didn’t seem to have any intention of letting Eva go.
“You said you didn’t have a habit of embracing women who refuse to be embraced. Didn’t you say that?”
With a little more room, Eva tried to pull the blanket and somehow slip out from under Divlik, but it was useless. She had walked for quite a while in a state where her strength hadn’t fully recovered after starving for a week. Even without that, there was no way Eva could overpower Divlik with strength.
“I’m not trying to do anything forcefully. Let’s call it a somewhat aggressive proposal, shall we?”
Divlik buried his face in the nape of Eva’s neck, savoring the scent coming from her. As if trying to check if this scent was present elsewhere, Divlik lowered both straps of Eva’s nightgown and pressed his face between her shoulder and shoulder blade.
Before she knew it, Divlik had pulled down Eva’s nightgown, fully exposing her chest to the front. With each of Divlik’s breaths touching her, Eva couldn’t help but flinch. One of Divlik’s large and rough hands gently grasped her breast, using his thumb and index finger to circle around her nipple.
“You didn’t run away from there because of the servants, right? I think you knew you’d be caught even if you ran. How can someone who knows how to use their head act so stupidly? Do you really think you can escape from me without paying any price?”
Divlik pushed aside Eva’s lush and voluminous hair covering her neck and lightly bit the back of her neck that was now exposed before his eyes. Feeling not only the breath that touched her but also the sticky energy from his lips, Eva bit her own lips. Moreover, Divlik’s thing, fully pressed against her buttocks, gradually increased its strength, flaunting its presence.
“Lord Divlik…… Please……”
“Answer me. Were you trying to die? I thought that maybe you’re doing this because you want to die.”
“If that’s……”
“If that’s the case!”
That absurd thing was the truth for Eva. As Eva tried to answer something, Divlik cut off her words with a loud voice and continued his own words, taking hers as they were.
“If you wanted to die, you should have given it up more easily. Why did you make me…… unable to sleep, trying to save a body that would rot away if you died?”
The reason she couldn’t be embraced… Eva had a clear circumstance, but she couldn’t tell Divlik about it.
“What if I say I’ll gladly kill you if you let me embrace you?”
Divlik’s hand, which had been caressing Eva’s chest, pulled Eva’s hand that was gripping the blanket and brought it to his mouth. Divlik slowly licked and bit each of Eva’s fingers, savoring them like long candy sticks. Feeling Divlik’s sticky tongue wrapping around her fingers, Eva bit her lip. It was just her fingers, but it felt as if that tongue was touching her entire body. There was nowhere else to retreat.
“Why is your reaction so lukewarm? I guess you just stopped in surprise after all? How could there be someone who truly wants to die? Especially you, who has been loved until now, who was an Empress……”
“Lord Divlik……”
“Just surrender, Former Empress. Why do you keep resisting? Your lord is as good as dead, isn’t he? Who knows, if you serve me well at night, I might show you mercy beyond just sparing your life.”
With Eva’s hand that he had been carefully holding in his mouth now dropped back down with his hand overlapping hers, Divlik pulled his hand to Eva’s front, wrapped it around her waist, and pulled her towards him.
“I’m a man who knows how to give overflowing satisfaction to a woman. You must be a woman who knows men too. Why don’t you forget about chastity and such and enjoy it? Look at this. Even while you say no, isn’t your body getting a bit hot too? Or is it my imagination?”
She could feel Divlik’s manhood, which had swollen to a level that could no longer be ignored, through their tightly pressed lower bodies. Eva tried her best to maintain her composure in the face of Divlik’s lust, which felt like it was about to burst, transmitted from that thing that seemed ready to enter her at any moment. If she showed even a slight sign of wavering here, Divlik might also be swept up in his instincts and break even the words he had uttered.
Eva forcibly removed her hand from Divlik’s, which was overlapped near her stomach, and said,
“Lord Divlik, you are to become the new Emperor.”
“And?”
“You shouldn’t…… engage in such dishonorable behavior.”
“While it may not be honorable for a conqueror to take a woman from the conquered land, it’s not something to be criticized for either.”
Seeing Divlik’s determination not to back down easily this time, unlike all his previous answers, Eva had no choice but to finally utter these words,
“That would only apply when the conqueror is a nobleman.”
Touching on what might be Divlik’s sore spot, saying, ‘you’re not a nobleman, do you think such customs would apply to you?’
Although the original meaning had faded now and few people knew the proper origin of this custom, Eva’s words were originally correct. Usually, wars on the continent were often territorial disputes between nobles.
“You don’t have…… the qualifications to invoke customs, Lord Divlik.”
Therefore, these wars were conducted from the start according to a certain amount of agreement. The victor gains a suitable trophy, and the loser withdraws without complaint. It was a custom born out of a kind of chivalry spirit of nobles who valued honor.
So it wasn’t appropriate for someone like Divlik, who had raised an army at will to attempt a rebellion and whose origins were unclear to the point of not even having a family name attached to his name, to bring up such matters.
“What does origin matter? I am now the Emperor of this empire. Haven’t I become the one standing tall above all the families of this continent? I have.”
Eva hoped that Divlik would feel that she was disrespecting him. At the same time, she wanted to convey that therefore, there wasn’t much meaning in taking her. But Divlik didn’t get angry.
“Your words are correct. I never had any particular honor to keep in the first place. Even if I become Emperor, someone will still gossip about me being a wandering mercenary of unknown origin. So…… embracing a woman who refuses to be embraced isn’t such a big deal.”
Eva felt her heart sink. She thought that by touching on his pride the most, she might not be able to preserve her life this time, but had it stimulated him in a different way?
“Now that I think about it, it seems that was more of an issue than the vow of chastity to your lord. Was it because I’m not a nobleman? Was that it?”
She had to bring this to an end somehow. Seeing that he had somehow managed to utter words about killing her, Divlik must have had some intention of killing her, so she couldn’t back down here.
“It was.”
Eva opened her mouth, steeling her resolve. Divlik, who had been gently kissing Eva’s body from behind, savoring her body as if she were his lover, paused his actions at that moment.
“I was an Empress. Only Emperor Fabian can embrace me.”
Crunch.
The sound of Divlik grinding his teeth near her ear was so loud that Eva tightly closed her eyes, feeling as if the flesh of her ear was being torn off by the sound alone.
