It was pure coincidence that I came across that novel. Among the drab-colored books, my eyes landed on a lone pretty cover with a pink background, and I paused.
The female protagonist drawn on the cover was so beautiful that I bought the book like I was under a spell.
The Male Lead’s Wonderful Love Story.
The title was so childish that I expected the content to be childish too.
However, perhaps due to the author’s writing skill, the densely written text read better than I expected. Maybe it was because of the plot twist that came later.
This is more interesting than I thought.
After finishing the book, I tilted my head for a moment. No matter how much I thought about it, I couldn’t understand the character of the supporting female lead who appeared from the beginning to the middle.
No matter how kind someone is, this isn’t right!
“What on earth is Annelia Rosaline doing?”
The novel’s setting went like this.
The male protagonist had to go for knight training to fulfill his duties as a nobleman. Knight training in the novel flowed similarly to Korean military service. The knights were organized and kept in one place, unable to freely leave the barracks.
Moreover, the Emperor imposed this knight training obligation on the nobility to strengthen imperial power. If they refused, he would confiscate their noble titles and prevent future generations from inheriting titles as well.
Because of this, noble families decided on heirs early and sent them straight to knight training after their coming-of-age ceremonies.
The original male protagonist inherited his title at a young age. He inherited it after writing a pledge to participate in knight training later.
He had a sick mother. He needed someone to care for his mother before going to training, so he got married. The woman he married was Annelia Rosaline, the supporting female lead from the original story.
Except she was too kind for her own good.
It was absurd enough to make me lose my mind while reading.
Does such a pushover even exist in this world?
Her pushover tendencies started with this exact line.
“Yes, I’ll divorce you.”
When the male protagonist later fell in love with the female protagonist and demanded a divorce, Annelia immediately accepted it.
Even though the wealthy male protagonist offered an enormous amount of alimony, she cleanly refused that too.
Why would you refuse that!
She was even someone who gave away everything she had to others.
“She was loved enough as a Duke’s daughter, so why is she like this…”
Does she have rock-bottom self-esteem?
I clicked my tongue and clenched my teeth.
I should never read this book again.
Watching pushover Annelia Rosaline made bad memories from my past creep up.
I quickly shook my head to shake off the book’s content and closed it.
But then.
“Ugh…!”
My head hurt so much.
In extreme pain, I searched for painkillers but couldn’t endure it and lost consciousness.
When I opened my eyes, I was in a lavish room. Unfamiliar patterns, a chandelier, and the smell of perfume assaulting my nose. As my mind returned, all five senses rushed in at once.
Moreover, someone was brushing my hair.
“Miss, how is it?”
What?
What’s going on?
I looked around in confusion. My gaze soon turned to the mirror in front of me.
Someone is dressing me up?
Memories flowed in soon after.
“Sacrifice yourself for our family.”
“Of course, Father. I’m happy enough just being able to do something for you.”
The pushover-like words that just flowed in were something I’d seen somewhere before.
I frantically searched my memory and suddenly realized.
Right, wasn’t this Annelia’s dialogue that I read in the book just a few hours ago!
Huh?
So it didn’t take long to realize that the original owner of this body was Annelia. Even now, a very beautiful woman was staring back at me through the mirror with a shocked expression.
That beautiful woman was, of course, me.
I stroked my face, unable to believe this reality.
What on earth happened to me?
What is this situation? What should I do now?
While the woman who called me Miss finished brushing my hair, I thought hard but couldn’t come up with any particular solution.
In the midst of confusion, the maid finished dressing me and left. Left alone, I walked to the window to figure out the timeline in the novel.
Countless flowers bloomed in the garden. Yellow flowers, pink flowers, white flowers—nameless flowers lined up in rows. They were so pretty that I unconsciously stared blankly at the scene for a moment.
So right now…
Spring.
A beautiful season, but for me, a harsh season. Annelia met the male protagonist in spring too.
Though it was a coincidence, irritation suddenly surged through me.
Why did this have to happen to me! If I was going to possess someone, it should have been the female protagonist. Why of all people, the pushover wife?
“I have to meet that male lead b*stard…”
The Rosaline family probably needs a large sum of money right now. And the male protagonist, knowing this fact, must have visited Annelia’s father and promised to provide financial support if he agreed to just one condition.
His condition was only one thing: marriage to Annelia.
Annelia’s father accepted that condition on the spot, and Annelia also willingly sacrificed herself for her family.
I’ll have to meet the male lead soon. Since I had to prevent the family from collapsing, I couldn’t refuse it.
But I didn’t want to live like a pushover the way the original story went either.
I smiled coldly and stretched.
First, let me meet that male lead b*stard.
But I won’t let things flow according to the original story.
Thinking that, I clenched my fist.
