The Villain's Sickly Wife Dislikes Being Overprotected - Chapter 3.14
No, maybe someone who has lived in the north for a long time is actually more accustomed to snowy fields.
Even lying down, my mind swung between extremes.
Between worrying that Kyron might have gone mad and thinking that there’s no need to worry about someone like him.
It’s not like anything will change by worrying now, so I might as well sleep. How ridiculous is it that I’m concerned about him? Who’s worrying about whom?
And probably my husband went out to do his own work. He wouldn’t have gone out in this snow, taking innocent subordinates with him, just for a walk.
As always, he just went to do his work without saying anything. And as expected, I was treated as if I didn’t exist again.
Isn’t it just an ordinary day?
Yes, I won’t worry about a husband who disappears as he pleases without a word.
I burrowed deeper into the blankets, pushing thoughts of Kyron out of my mind. I’ll just sleep.

When I woke up again, fortunately, it was bright around me this time. It was morning.
I unconsciously felt relieved that the night had passed safely. But soon, the worries from last night resurfaced.
Has he returned to the hotel now?
I was worried about my condition and the patient’s state, but that issue seemed to have been resolved for now. The ongoing problem was Kyron.
“Did you sleep well? How are you feeling?”
Lia looked much more refreshed than last night.
“I’m fine now. I don’t have any headache or feeling of nausea.”
“That’s a relief, really.”
“By the way, has my husband not returned yet?”
“Ah… No, there’s still no news of him.”
She looked out the window once, seeming worried too. Not that the person who left would suddenly appear just by doing that.
Recently, we had been talking more, and he had shown concern for my health, so I thought we had gotten a bit closer, but I guess not.
As expected, having expectations is foolish.
Kyron doesn’t even think he needs to tell me where he’s going, yet I was the only one worrying about him.
I felt upset, feeling like I was the only one caring about him.
I decided to forget about Kyron and went to meet the hotel owner first.
He seemed to have something to say too, as he welcomed me warmly.
Compared to last night when he looked like his soul had escaped, the hotel owner’s expression was much more livable.
“How is everyone’s condition today?”
“Fortunately, it seems many have improved. Most say they don’t have headaches now and their minds are clear. Only a few who were quite ill yesterday are still resting.”
“I wonder what would have happened if you hadn’t listened to me.”
“Y-yes. If you hadn’t made a quick judgment, we might have been dying here. You’re our savior.”
He agreed. I was satisfied with his attitude.
“By the way, I don’t see His Grace the Duke. Where has he gone?”
Well… That’s exactly what I wanted to ask, but it seems he doesn’t know the answer either.
Just then, suddenly I felt a cold sensation from somewhere. It seemed like a door had opened.
“You’re already awake?”
The familiar voice was heard shortly after I felt the cold air.
I looked up.
He had returned.
“Did you sleep well?”
I was dumbfounded that he could casually ask “Did you sleep well?” after disappearing without a word.
My gaze traveled from his hands, up his arms, across his shoulders, to his face.
The cloak he wore was damp. It seems he had gone out wearing a different coat and cloak instead of the one he gave me.
I was about to answer, ‘I couldn’t sleep because I was worried about someone,’ but I changed my mind.
“Yes, I slept well. It was comfortable and nice to use the room alone without you.”
There’s no point in showing concern for someone who disappeared without a word and returned so casually.
“Ah… Because I wasn’t there?”
“Yes. Thanks to that, I slept very well.”
His gaze turned as cold as the harsh weather outside. He pressed his lips into a straight line for a moment before relaxing them.
“How are you feeling?”
This question was asked in a much stiffer voice than before.
“I’m a bit better now.”
“I’ve brought the village doctor, so get yourself examined.”
“What? A doctor?”
He gestured with his chin to someone standing behind him. There stood an unfamiliar white-haired old man.
So that person is the doctor?
Did he go out to bring a doctor?
I recalled briefly talking about bringing a doctor yesterday.
I thought he was skeptical about bringing a doctor directly because of the snow. It was quite unexpected that someone who intimidated and ordered around his subordinates would go out and return through the snowfall out of concern for the patients here.
While I was thinking this, Kyron left abruptly with an expressionless face. Considering his original personality, this isn’t surprising either.
“Greetings, Duchess. I never expected to meet you here in Pierce. It’s an honor.”
The doctor who was still standing in front of me greeted me.
“Nice to meet you.”
The doctor and I moved to a small room.
After hearing an explanation about last night’s situation, the doctor proceeded to conduct a few tests on me first.
“Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like it reached a critical situation, so you don’t need to go to the hospital for treatment. Instead, please open the windows frequently and breathe in plenty of fresh air.”
The doctor then examined each of the patients who had shown symptoms yesterday, one by one.
It took quite a while to complete the examinations for everyone.
After examining all the patients, we confirmed that there were no critical patients requiring immediate emergency treatment.
Finally, everyone could breathe a sigh of relief.
“Thank you so much for coming here despite this weather.”
“Ho ho, it’s nothing. As a doctor, I couldn’t ignore such a situation. Besides, His Grace the Duke came to my house personally. I was really surprised that he came in person in such bad weather.”
“I know. It would be nice if he at least said something before leaving.”
I grumbled unconsciously, recalling Kyron’s brusque demeanor.
“Ah, did he enter this snowstorm without saying a word to you, my lady?”
“Yes, isn’t it too much?”
“Ho ho, it seems he did so to avoid worrying you.”
The elderly doctor smiled gently.
“By the way, how will you get back to your house?”
“Whether I go back home or stay here, it’s the same being isolated and unable to go out. The road back is treacherous, and I need to check on the condition of the people here further, so I’ll stay a bit longer.”
“Ah, I see.”
After finishing my conversation with the doctor, I headed to the lobby where many people had gathered.
I looked around, but Kyron wasn’t visible, only the guard knights who had gone out with him were there.
Just as I was thinking he must be in his room, certain conversations began to catch my ear.
“We were just blindly scared, thinking we might have caught an infectious disease…”
“The doctor says it could have been life-threatening if it had gotten worse. If the Duchess hadn’t told us, we might have died from fear.”
“How did the Duchess know?”
“She seems to be a wise person.”
Even though they were speaking in small whispers, I could hear them talking about me surprisingly well.
