The magicians continued their chanting regardless of whether Calix was being consumed by flames.
Soon after, a large spear of blue light poured down over the dragon’s neck.
The dragon twisted its neck and spewed flames toward the ceiling. In the midst of this, Calix, showing signs of fatigue, gritted his teeth and stabbed under the dragon’s jaw.
Grrrrrr-!
The dragon’s scream echoed throughout the cavern. At the sound, large bats began to break through the stone ceiling and poke their heads out.
“Gargoyles! Knights, form ranks and protect Her Majesty the Empress!”
“Yes!”
Regardless of the gargoyles pouring down, Calix leaped high, hung onto the dragon’s horn, and repeatedly stabbed at its forehead.
The sword was blocked by the hard scales and couldn’t penetrate properly.
However, it seemed enough to provoke the dragon. The enraged dragon shook its head violently, trying to throw him off.
Undeterred, Calix dangled from the horn and kicked at the dragon’s eyes.
“Crown Prince!”
“I’m afraid I’d prefer to be called Emperor now. Fat lizard.”
Calix fell to the ground with a smirk. Then, blue magic circles began to stack rapidly around his body. When his entire body glowed with blue light, he swung his sword.
Crash-!
A blue sword beam tore through the dragon’s wing.
“Attack!”
The knights immediately drew their swords and began killing the gargoyles one by one.
Not long after, a large portal opened and a familiar face appeared through it.
‘The Archmage.’
The Archmage, his blue robe fluttering, tapped the floor with his staff.
The golden orb embedded in the staff pulsated and immediately created a large magic circle beneath the dragon’s feet.
“Human, do you know what you’re doing?”
The dragon asked with blood-red eyes. Perhaps due to the magic circle, the entire lair was shaking violently.
Calix, gripping his sword tightly with both hands, was emitting a chilling magical energy as if ready to behead the dragon at any moment.
“Your choice will lead to your world being invaded. I don’t know when it will happen, but it will.”
“What does that have to do with me?”
“If that happens, it will be your fault. Can you handle that?”
“I don’t care. So shut up.”
What was that about? Invasion? As I frowned at the dragon’s nonsense, the Archmage chanted a spell.
Then, with a clicking sound like a lock closing, a purple magic circle wrapped around the dragon’s neck like a collar.
“How do you think mere humans can do anything to me? Your brains are empty. Crown Prince.”
“That remains to be seen.”
The corner of the Archmage’s mouth turned up. He seemed excited at the thought of eating a dragon heart.
“I am the one directly chosen by the otherworlder you so covet.”
Calix threw his sword straight into the dragon’s heart.
The dragon immediately opened its mouth wide, trying to swallow Calix, and all kinds of magic began to pour down around him.
If he gets hit, he’ll really die this time.
“No!”
I screamed. The heat emanating from hundreds of magical spheres floating in the air made my skin burn.
Even Calix can’t dodge this.
“Aaargh! Die!”
It was then. A familiar Korean voice was heard, and my diary came fluttering down over the dragon’s head.
Instantly, the Archmage’s purple magic circle glowed bright red and tightened around the dragon’s neck.
Calix rushed forward and twisted the sword stuck in the dragon’s heart.
“Rahut, absolute being of the middle realm. Live for the Empire until my name disappears from this land.”
With Calix’s meaningful words, the dragon’s size began to shrink. Eventually, with a flash of light, the dragon returned to the form of a handsome young man with golden hair.
“Haha, hahahaha!”
Blue letters appeared on Calix’s sword. With a click, the red magic circle around the dragon’s neck was engraved on its neck like a tattoo.
The dragon began to laugh maniacally, and Calix staggered as he looked at me.
And he smiled.
I wanted to ask how he could smile.
The surroundings were devastated, with monsters and humans mixed together, and smoke was rising from all directions.
In that chaotic space, I alone stood unharmed.
“D*mn it, Serena, why are you here!”
Perhaps startled by Hyesung’s sudden appearance, the Archmage shouted with a contorted expression. Then he immediately ran to Calix and grabbed his collar.
“What are you? Why is Serena here?”
Calix looked the Archmage up and down with annoyance and said, “Where did you sell your manners?”
He gripped the Archmage’s wrist as if to break it and threw him to the ground.
“I don’t have time to deal with you.”
Calix walked steadily toward me with a smirk.
With a satisfied smile, he took both my hands and kissed the back of them.
“See, I did it. Did well, right?”
I was speechless. It was chaos.
The dragon behind him had an irritated expression and was clenching and unclenching his fist, but nothing happened.
The Archmage was sprawled on the floor, looking at Hyesung with a terrified face, and Hyesung was walking toward me, holding the diary as if nothing had happened.
And Calix…
With mixed feelings, I touched the wounds on his body.
It must have stung because his brow automatically furrowed.
“What do you mean ‘did well’? It’s a complete failure, human.”
The dragon said. Calix turned his head with a grin to look at the dragon.
“I didn’t know there were two otherworlders. Ha, this is bad. This world has no hope.”
Calix twitched his eyebrows while holding me tightly.
“It seems you haven’t grasped the situation yet?”
“Of course I have. I understand it very well.”
With the dragon’s words, the Archmage, who had been lying on the floor, suddenly got up, grabbed Hyesung’s hand, and demanded:
“Serena, why are you here? Did that d*mn emperor bastard lure you? I’m asking why you’re here!”
Suddenly, with a slap sound, the Archmage’s head turned. At the same time, Calix’s arms tightened around me.
“I came here of my own will, you son of a b*tch.”
“……”
“Did I look like an idiot to you? You said you’d send me home if I cooperated. And then you pull this kind of stunt?”
I bit my lip slightly at Hyesung’s words. I could understand how she felt.
The dragon walked up to Calix and whispered in his ear.
“That woman will bring destruction.”
And with a slightly serious face, he continued, “It’s quite annoying that I have to get involved in this because you did the stupid thing of making me the guardian of the Empire. You know?”
The dragon’s gaze shifted to me.
“The absolute beings of your world seem excited. This place has a low level of civilization, so there are fewer restrictions on the absolute beings’ intervention in the middle realm.”
What on earth is he talking about? I reflexively looked at Calix, and he trembled slightly and held me tighter.
And he glanced at Hyesung.
“Think about it. Even though Morisias was an absolute being who had lost power, how could he be annihilated so easily? And without even manifesting, simply through the sacred object Morisias left behind. It’s possible because there are no restrictions on power.”
As promised, Calix’s soldiers pulled the Archmage away from Hyesung.
“I’m going back.”
Hyesung stood on the diary spread out on the floor and took out a vial.
The dragon’s eyes flashed at that.
“I don’t have the confidence to deal with such terrifying beings. Crown Prince.”
Hyesung poured the vial into her mouth.
The Archmage’s screams could be heard. Magic circles began to rise chaotically all around, but they had no effect.
Hyesung’s body collapsed to the floor.
The method the diary suggested for returning to Earth was none other than death.
My breath caught. Just like when I fainted in the desert.
I looked at Calix with wide eyes.
It was the same for Calix.
Something began to shimmer before my eyes.
I could tell. That I was one step away from death.
“Rose! D*mn it, Rose, snap out of it!”
My vision gradually blurred, and I felt as if my body was floating.
The space where I was standing twisted and shook violently.
‘What is this?’
I don’t want to die. I can’t die.
Reflexively, I tried to place my hand on my stomach, but my body wouldn’t move.
And not long after, I could see my own face.
“Rose, breathe, breathe. Rose.”
Calix’s hands holding me trembled.
“Rose, please! Why are you doing this? Stop joking around and breathe!”
He screamed with bloodshot eyes.
I had a memory of seeing this scene. The one I saw in the desert cave before losing consciousness…
It was strange. It was as if I always saw these visions right before collapsing under a life-threatening situation, and those visions would become reality.
What on earth is this?
“Lee Chaerin.”
At the sudden familiar Korean, I reflexively turned around.
There stood a grim reaper wearing a black hanbok and a gat hat, recognizable to anyone.
My mind became hazy.
Crazy. What is that?
Heyhihello
The dragon is right since Nasa discovered signs of civilization on this planet- I hope Hyesung keeps quiet about her experience anyway why is Rose dying!!!
