“Let’s make a deal, Your Highness.”
I have transmigrated into the body of Princess Reana Carter, a supporting character in a novel who disappears after the male protagonist cruelly breaks off their engagement.
If I do nothing, I’ll be sold to a wealthy old count and die young.
First, I need to change my own fate, so I’ll forget about the main characters’ story!
Desperate to escape, I immediately decide to seek asylum in another country.
But raising the money will take time.
The only person who can buy me that time is the novel’s male lead, Grand Duke Claude Grey.
“I’ll agree to end our engagement.”
“What?”
“In return, please remain engaged to me for one year.”
We strike a deal: he’ll give me the time I need, and in return, I’ll give him the information he wants.
But as the days pass, Claude’s icy demeanor begins to soften.
He fulfils his duties as my fiancé and also shows me unexpected acts of kindness.
Fearing that I will start to want more, I hurry to prepare for my departure.
But Claude catches on and asks, in a chilling voice,
“Have you finished preparing to run away, Princess Carter?”
“…”
“Why? Do you no longer need me?”
Before I realize it, he has drawn closer, his voice dropping to a murmur.
There’s something unsettling about the way he looks at me. Isn’t he supposed to be the male lead who abandons me?
