I binge read this because the comments said it was funny, and it was! It was hilarious in the beginning before it started getting more serious in the middle of the book. I don’t want to spoil but I will say the second half of the book was very disappointing. The ML is a total green flag. I loved his character. He’s so romantic and sweet. The problem is the FL. Her recklessness was cute in the beginning because it was balanced with humor and her own cleverness. But as the plot progressed I realized she’s just a self centered emotionally immature person. She has so many great people bending over backwards for her, but she never reciprocates their sincerity, she just keeps taking and taking and demanding more from them as she pulls them into her schemes and drama with the ML. She is a walking calamity and her foolishness comes to a head and causes innocent people to die. I won’t say who to prevent spoilers. But because she’s the FL not only is she never held accountable for her crimes, but it’s also twisted in the end and justified and solved conveniently because of magic. There’s no self reflection. No regret. The ML is possibly one of the top most genuine MLs Ive ever read, and it’s wasted because he’s paired with such a weak FL. Also, I don’t like stories with magic and witchcraft plots. This story has those elements but it’s pretty mild and can be skipped over if your not into it or find those parts boring, until you get to the end when the author tries to save the dying plot with magic all of a sudden. I started skimming through the last few chapters just to see how it all ended, but it only continued to anger me as I kept going. In a nutshell, the FL doesn’t deserve the ML or any of the awesome friends she manipulates and harasses in the story.
