Epilogue
After the cold winter passed, spring finally arrived at Rondale Academy.
The campus, famous for its vast grounds, now had hardly any bare trees left, and as if welcoming spring, every tree was bursting into bloom.
The scenery of the campus adorned with colorful flowers was a sight to behold, but for the students within the academy, located on the outskirts of the imperial capital, even this lost its charm after just a few days.
In such a closed environment, even the changing of the natural scenery could be a small joy, but once the reason was known, everyone could only understand.
For example, at Rondale Academy, where even trivial matters such as someone getting engaged or some incident in a department became big gossip…
“Did you hear that rumor?”
“Of course. But is it really true?”
“Wow, I can’t believe something like this happened.”
Today, it was because an explosive piece of news had spread, like a bomb going off.
Within Rondale Academy, the mouths of students spreading the rumor wouldn’t stop.
There were two people at the center of the rumor.
Kallion, third year in the Swordsmanship Department.
Agnes, third year in the Department of Magical Engineering.
Both of them, now entering their graduating class, were famous in many ways within the academy.
But those two…
“Are they really getting married?”
How could news of their marriage not be shocking?
“They haven’t even graduated yet, does that make sense?”
“Isn’t it just a silly rumor? There’s no connection between the two.”
“I heard Agnes was assigned to the Swordsmanship Department and was with Kallion then.”
Many students had doubts.
“No, but still…”
It was all just so sudden.
There hadn’t even been rumors of the two being a couple, but now they were suddenly getting married?
And, since the two came from different social statuses, it was even harder to believe.
“Even if this rumor is true, look, she’s a commoner… right? I’m talking about Agnes.”
“Yeah, right? What are they going to do? Did she get even a single-rank title?”
The rumor itself was extremely sensational, but when applied to reality, it seemed like chasing clouds.
They were still students, not even graduated, so it was too early for marriage.
Their connection was unclear.
And most importantly, their different social statuses.
None of it was convincing enough for anyone to say, ‘Ah, I see, so that’s how it turned out.’
But even as some students questioned the credibility, the rumor refused to die down.
That only made people believe it was true even more.
In the end, there were even outlandish stories spreading that the wedding would be held at the academy.
“What did they say, that the wedding’s going to be at the academy?”
“The academy? What’s that supposed to mean?”
“See, now I know for sure. It’s all just nonsense.”
“Right.”
While everyone was baffled, confused, or surprised—
‘Hmm? A wedding at the academy?’
Only one person, Rowena from the Department of Administration, reacted calmly upon hearing the news.
“Oh my. So Kallion is finally getting married.”
“Aren’t you surprised, Rowena?”
Then, the friend who brought the news added that it just seemed like a rumor, and wondered where such nonsense had come from.
But Rowena thought differently.
“Hmm, I’m not surprised. And anyway, the rumor’s true.”
“Huh? Why?”
“Just a feeling.”
Though she brushed it off, the moment she heard about a wedding at the academy, Rowena was convinced.
She knew the rumor was true.
‘Hmm, so they came up with such a clever idea.’
When Rowena learned that the person in Kallion’s heart was Agnes, she was a little surprised.
It was a bit embarrassing to think so as a noble, but Kallion’s ‘Agnes Belle Lemanche’ was a commoner.
She also wondered, ‘How on earth are they going to manage this?’
But today, upon hearing the rumor, Rowena thought the two of them were quite smart.
‘They really used their heads.’
Most other students probably wouldn’t realize what it meant to have a wedding inside the academy.
That was why everyone thought it was just a false rumor.
‘But well, soon enough, everyone will know the rumor is true.’
Rowena shrugged her shoulders.
***
A few days later.
It became certain that all the rumors about Kallion Roy Bishuern and Agnes Belle Lemanche’s marriage were true.
Having completed the marriage process, the two had already become a legal couple.
This news spread beyond Rondale Academy and made a huge impact in imperial society as well.
It was only natural.
Because it was a marriage between a noble and a commoner.
Everyone was stunned by how this could have been possible.
Under imperial special law, all students within the academy are equal, regardless of status.
Who would have thought to use that law?
Had anyone ever thought of holding a wedding as a student, inside the academy?
Maybe someone had.
But no one had ever actually done it.
Even the Imperial Family, who had established this special law, was flustered by this unprecedented event, but in the end, they acknowledged that there was nothing illegal about the marriage.
The nobles were greatly surprised by the Imperial Family’s decision, but eventually nodded, as the special law was declared to take precedence over general law.
And so, today, the first event of its kind in history was about to take place.
The wedding of noble Kallion and commoner Agnes.
In May, when spring flowers were in full bloom, their wedding was held in the academy’s courtyard.
‘Haah, I’m nervous.’
Today’s bride, Agnes, stood at the end of the wedding aisle in a pure white dress.
Since it was such a major event, it was no exaggeration to say that almost all the students had gathered to witness their wedding.
Amid countless gazes, Agnes slowly stepped forward, making her entrance.
She looked at Kallion, who was waiting for her on the stage at the end of the v*rgin road.
But there was one problem.
‘Ah, he’s too dazzling.’
His appearance in a perfectly fitted white ceremonial suit was simply too flawless.
Even after becoming his lover, Agnes often found herself unable to keep her composure under Kallion’s ‘face attack.’
But now, with his tall figure and well-toned muscles showing perfectly in his suit!
And he was staring straight at Agnes like that.
Even through the veil, it was an overwhelming attack.
No, this was practically a declaration of war.
Her vision was getting so sharp, it felt like she might go blind.
She even worried if she might have some sort of side effect from an overdose of vitamins.
Looking at the even more perfect Kallion today, Agnes felt a little regret.
‘Ugh, what a waste, seeing this only with my own eyes.’
Because it was something she had to control, it was difficult to record his appearance with Dralon today.
She couldn’t exactly pilot Dralon down the v*rgin road.
‘Ah, I should have improved it.’
Agnes decided that next time, she would further develop it so it could move around on its own without anyone piloting it.
It wasn’t quite the sort of thought a bride would have at her wedding, but it was very much like a true magical engineer—or perhaps, a true Kallion stalker.
Anyway, Agnes walked slowly, taking small steps along the v*rgin road, trying to adjust to the dazzling sight of Kallion in his ceremonial suit.
‘Huh?’
But the light—no, Kallion—started approaching her faster than her own steps.
“Kallion?”
Unable to wait any longer, Kallion strode toward her with his long legs and reached out his hand to her.
“Let’s go together.”
His pleasant, low voice wrapped around her ears.
Until just a moment ago, she’d felt her heart fluttering from the overwhelming sight of Kallion’s face.
But as she met his gaze as he approached, Agnes realized once again.
What this light truly was.
How much warmth and happiness it brought her.
“…Yes.”
With a faint smile, Agnes took Kallion’s hand.
Her heart no longer trembled with nerves.
Instead, a pleasant excitement filled her.
Holding this strong, warm hand, she felt certain she would always be happy.
Clap clap clap—clap clap clap—
Blessings in the form of applause poured down upon the two as they walked the wedding aisle together.
“…Now for the final part.”
The wedding, proceeding according to the schedule, was already nearing its end.
“The two of you, please exchange vows to spend your lives together.”
It was time for their vows.
At that moment, Kallion lowered himself before Agnes. Soon, he knelt on one knee and looked up at her.
“I vow to spend my life with you. Even if it costs me everything.”
There were gasps from here and there.
Though he had not yet graduated, Kallion had already been accepted into the Imperial Knight Order.
He was to become a knight.
For a knight, this act was akin to a pledge to devote his life to her.
Kallion reached out and gently took Agnes’s right hand.
It was as if a precious ritual was being carried out—the slow gesture of removing the lace gloves. No guest could take their eyes off that hand.
Kallion’s warm lips landed on the back of Agnes’s pale hand.
Feeling that heat, Agnes understood.
She could sense with what kind of heart this man was offering her everything.
She now knew what this burning sincerity he held meant.
Now, it was Agnes’s turn to respond to that trust.
Kallion lifted his head and looked up at her. His gaze was waiting for Agnes’s answer.
With the translucent bridal veil between them, deep green eyes and clear blue eyes reflected each other.
“……I swear.”
A clear voice, filled with joy, echoed throughout the hall.
At the same time, Kallion suddenly stood up and pulled Agnes tightly into his arms.
“Kalli, ugh….”
In an instant, Kallion lifted his hand and pushed back the veil, seeking her lips.
Their lips met in a heartbeat.
Amidst the guests who blushed, exclaiming softly, the two shared their kiss for a long time.
“Ha, Agnes.”
Could it be possible to feel such happiness, knowing that gaze full of longing was directed solely at her?
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Kallion.”
Agnes was certain. She would continue to be happy.
Because her sun, her light, would always shine towards her.
