Revenge and a Contract Relationship

“Does your home not have a mirror, Ms. Cha Juhee? Someone like you is more than attractive enough. Have a little more confidence in yourself.”

Ihyun’s face wore a polite smile.

I’m pretty? Attractive? There’s no way.

A stubborn sense of defiance flared up inside her. The feeling showed plainly in her voice and expression.

“That’s a low move, even for you, Director. It must be exhausting, saying things you don’t mean just to recruit me.”

“I’m an extremely objective person. I only say what I see. Does that really sound so hard to believe?”

“Objective? Ha! Unbelievable. Then go on a date with me.”

Juhee fixed Ihyun with a somewhat challenging stare.

“You said I’m attractive. So why not? You can’t do that? Just as I thought, appearing in front of other people as a couple with me would embarrass you, wouldn’t—”

“No! Let’s do it.”

Ihyun’s words shot out before she could finish, and Juhee’s eyes went wide.

“……?”

“Let’s go on a date, Ms. Cha Juhee.”

His face brimmed with a smile. That smile blazed like sharp sunlight. It was so bright, so dazzling, that whatever lay behind it remained impossible to see.

But even then, Juhee had never imagined it.

That she would end up falling in love with this man, who sometimes toyed with her in that slick, infuriating way of his, and other times wielded a sharp, relentless grip over her however he pleased.

After her company and her boyfriend both cast her aside, Juhee one day finds herself approached by Woo Ihyun, the CEO of rival firm Sungju Construction, who offers her both a job and a chance at revenge.

In turn, Juhee makes a counter-proposal: become her boyfriend and help her appear as an irresistibly attractive woman to other men.
