Her fiancé, Leon Clift. He was a beast.
So when his funeral was held because he couldn’t return from the war,
The tears she shed were tears of joy.
Liberation from the cruel violence he inflicted every day.
This was an opportunity, a silver bullet.
But then.
The one she thought was dead.
That beast…
Came back alive.
“Tell me how much you missed me.”
And that, as a completely different person.
He became obsessed with her.

What she had known until now wasn’t a kiss. It was just a peck. His tongue swept and licked so stimulatingly that she felt like she was going crazy. It was a kiss that awakened her instincts to the point where she forgot whether this man was Leon or someone else.
Stop it. Stop it.
His l*st showed no signs of abating, only burning hotter. And… he’s doing it for too long. Again and again. Her lips felt like they were going to wear out. That’s how desperately passionate his kisses were. She hated doing this kind of secret and sensual act with Leon, even more than before. She was scared.
“Don’t lose focus.”
Leon, who had suddenly pulled away from her lips as if he knew, growled. He was anxious. Desperate. His chest heaved violently. With his rough breathing, he started again. As if the kiss they had shared never happened, he moved fiercely again. At this rate, she felt like she would be swallowed by his lips.
She felt like she was going to collapse under him from a single kiss. Her mind went blank, and she couldn’t think of anything. All she could feel was his presence, rummaging through her insides.

I read up to chapter 62 and am taking a break for now. I don’t know if I will pick this up again. The writing is good, and some of the characters are good, including the FL, but I’m just severely disappointed in how the author addresses the serious and sensitive topic of domestic violence through the characters. Some readers don’t mind suspending reality to enjoy a trashy romance, I am not one of those readers. I’m concerned about how young readers may be influenced by what’s written here. I’d hate to normalize ignoring past offenses, especially in the case of physical violence, just because the abuser appears to be kinder later on. Although it’s not love bombing in the story, the way the ML suddenly “changes” and never addresses the past *buse, in real life someone could be seriously mistake love bombing for sincere repentance. The ML is presented as a green flag, but he’s really not. I found him to be a selfish idiot blinded by his own delusional feelings and passions. Even when the subject of the previous *buse is brought up directly, he dismissed it based on his own misunderstandings. The FL is forced to go along with the changes without any real closure, and sure she gets caught up in the affection, but it’s not healthy or normal at all. As more is revealed about what actually happened, I just felt the ML was perverted and weird. No matter how nice he was or “sincere”, he’s still a selfish liar. I hope the FL dumps him and makes him grovel for forgiveness, but the way things are going, that may not happen. Rather than stress myself out any further, I decided to drop.
