Prologue
“Have you heard the news? Miss Sharofe is so obsessed with blonds.”
Inside the ballroom, where a crystal chandelier cast a dazzling light.
At someone’s words, people began to murmur.
“Which Miss Sharofe?”
“Of course, it’s Miss Sharofe of the Duke of Diart!”
It was no exaggeration to say that all the nobles from prominent families in the capital were gathered here.
The one person they were all talking about…
Was Shailyn Sharofe.
She was originally the eldest daughter of the humble Count Sharofe family, and until just last year, hardly anyone in society knew her name.
But this year, her situation changed dramatically.
She reconciled with her estranged maternal family, the Duke of Diart, and began living with them as a family, which greatly elevated her status.
Moreover, she herself displayed outstanding qualities, attracting public attention.
“Oh! Now that I think about it, I heard Miss Sharofe is coming today too…”
Just then, the servant at the entrance called out Shailyn’s name loudly.
“Miss Shailyn Sharofe is entering!”
All eyes turned to the door.
A woman in a flowing, water-colored chiffon dress stepped in gracefully.
At first glance, she had a coy, cat-like impression, but her slightly rounded eyes gave her a rabbit-like feel.
Her hair, as if woven with silver, was proof of her Diart bloodline, and her clear, glass-like blue eyes were those of the Sharofe family.
A black-haired knight wearing a mask escorted Shailyn, making her stand out even more.
“Thank you, you can leave me here.”
Shailyn whispered softly as she let go of the knight’s hand.
The black-haired knight nodded briefly and replied in a blunt voice.
“I’ll be going.”
“Okay, see you later.”
“…Don’t enjoy yourself too much.”
Shailyn turned with a bright smile, without answering.
People whispered with curiosity and interest in their eyes as they watched her walk leisurely across the carpet.
“I heard she was treated coldly even in the Sharofe family. Isn’t it amazing how she turned her life around like that?”
“Oh, that’s because the current Countess of Sharofe is her stepmother and was intentionally making her life difficult.”
“Really? If that’s true, Miss Sharofe must have had a hard time. Is she seeing anyone now?”
“Not yet. I hear she doesn’t even look at anyone who isn’t blond. Her condition is so severe that all she talks about is blonds, blonds…”
“There’s even talk that if someone’s blond, she’ll approach them no matter what.”
For ladies with blond sons, this was somewhat welcome news.
Shailyn was quite a desirable bride, with her exceptional looks, abilities, and the support she would receive from her maternal family.
They cast discreet glances at Shailyn, who was looking around the hall with an indifferent expression.
But Shailyn showed no interest in them.
Because,
“Blond! Where’s the blond, blond!”
She was more obsessed with finding a blond man than people imagined.
“My male lead must be here somewhere…”
To be precise, she was obsessed with finding the blond male lead.
She fervently recited the prayer she had repeated since last night.
Dear God, please let me find the male lead today.
Did her earnestness move not God, but the game system?
— Ding!
【Your male lead is within 10 meters ahead!】
Shailyn lit up her eyes and looked around like a meerkat.
She boldly approached the first blond she saw and asked in a chilling voice.
“What is your name, sir?”
Is it you?
Are you my male lead?
Under her intense gaze, the man began to sweat nervously and answered.
“Ah, I’m Chris Norton.”
“Nice to meet you, Lord Norton. Could you perhaps show me the way?”
“The way to where…?”
“The way to your heart.”
The sudden flirting caused the man’s pupils to quake.
But Shailyn didn’t stop and continued speaking.
“You seem to be carrying a heavy burden on your shoulders, isn’t it tiring?”
“Me, a burden? I’m the youngest of three brothers, so I don’t really have any burdens…”
“A burden of charm.”
She winked one eye.
The black-haired knight watching from afar had a slight grimace on his face.
While everyone was entranced by Shailyn’s actions, which proved the rumors of her obsession with blonds, she boldly added a dance request.
“Lord Norton, would you like to dance with me later—”
“Found you!”
Someone grabbed Shailyn’s shoulder.
“Why are you ignoring our messages, sister?”
It was her half-sister, Janice.
The moment she saw Janice, Shailyn’s eyes turned as cold as a dead fish.
Janice asked sharply again,
“Do you like living with the Duke of Diart after abandoning me and Mom?”
“Yes.”
Janice’s face crumpled at her immediate answer without hesitation.
She looked Shailyn up and down with discontent.
High-end dresses and expensive jewels she could never afford with her own pocket money.
Her once rustic and gloomy half-sister had transformed into a sophisticated beauty.
The situation was frustrating for Janice, who was about to burst into tears.
“How could you? Is the wealth of the Duke of Diart that sweet? Enough to abandon your real family for money…?”
She raised her voice deliberately for others to hear, pretending to wipe tears with a handkerchief.
Recently, rumors spread in society about how she and her mother had tormented Shailyn, putting them in a difficult situation.
Her plan was to reverse the rumors and make it seem like Shailyn was at fault, claiming she betrayed them for money.
Shailyn looked at her sister’s tearful act with indifference.
‘Ah, I’m so busy, and now she’s bothering me.’
She couldn’t afford to miss even one blond.
To remove the hindrance, Shailyn adopted a wistful look and spoke.
“Janice, don’t you know why I ignored your and Mom’s messages?”
“Because you’re greedy for money—”
“Because you and Mom kept asking me to dig up secrets of the Duke of Diart and embezzle funds for you.”
She stepped back and let her tears well up for all to see.
Her acting skills were clearly superior to Janice’s, enough to make people forget her earlier blatant flirting with a random blond.
“I’m sorry, but I couldn’t comply with such requests. The people of the Duchy of Diart are precious to me too.”
“What nonsense are you talking about?! When did we ever do that!”
A flustered Janice lost her poker face and retorted sharply.
In reality, the Countess and Janice had sent letters full of curses, but they never made such requests.
But Shailyn, intent on fighting fire with fire, was unshaken.
She sniffed louder than before and asked.
“Then can I report the letters you and Mom sent me to the newspaper? To the one that publishes across the entire empire.”
“……!”
“If you’re confident, it should be fine, right?”
Janice’s shoulders trembled violently. If the contents of the letters were revealed, it would fuel the rumors of abuse, which would be troublesome.
Unable to say anything, Janice bit her lips, and Shailyn approached her, placing a hand on her shoulder, and spoke clearly.
“Of course, if you don’t want that, I won’t reveal them. But Janice, you shouldn’t say strange things anymore. I never abandoned my family.”
Not that there was a family to abandon in the first place.
With a fleeting smirk, Shailyn declared with a firm expression.
“I just drove away those who were eating away at my life.”
“You, you…!”
Janice’s face turned crimson as she pointed her finger angrily, but she restrained herself, conscious of the surrounding gazes.
Holding her half-sister’s shoulder tightly, Shailyn whispered one last time.
“So don’t mess with me anymore. We’re not family or anything.”
“……!”
She released Janice and turned away with a refreshed face.
Phew, now back to finding the male lead!
Her blue eyes rolled sharply, like a predator looking for prey.
The problem was…
‘Ha, this is insane.’
Royal blond, dirty blond, sandy blond, etc.
During her fight with Janice, more attendees had arrived, increasing the number of blonds.
…Of course.
Today, there are a ridiculous number of blonds again.
Shailyn’s expression soured uncontrollably. No matter how you looked at it, this was too much.
To escape this cursed body and world, she had to find the blond male lead.
‘You crazy bastards, how am I supposed to find the male lead when they’re all blond?!’
How am I supposed to find him?
Shailyn screamed silently. She felt like her chest was going to explode from frustration.
I want to go back! Let me go!
Honestly, she just wanted to lie on the floor and throw a tantrum like a character from a children’s cartoon…
Like Cinderella, she transformed from the eldest daughter of a minor count to the beloved granddaughter of the Lord Diart.
Shailyn Sharofe.
There was a truly tearful and sad story behind how she got to this point.
