“My lady is beautiful too.”
Though the quiet voice was quickly buried in the surrounding noise, Lady Margaret heard him clearly. Her cheeks turned red.
Lady Margaret glanced at Van, trying to meet his eyes. However, at that moment, a noisy commotion arose behind them as a group of noble ladies appeared, forcing her to quickly turn away.
“I still can’t believe it. That those two are getting married, goodness.”
The noble ladies sat huddled together, whispering frantically.
“Since when did it start? From when those rumors spread?”
“Hush, Lea. Let’s not talk about that. Today is their sacred wedding day.”
“I know, but I’m just curious. My goodness, then how long was Duke Lylester barking up the wrong tree? And what about Her Highness the Imperial Princess? She even publicly requested an outing with Sir Seiden, and the imperial family even sent a marriage proposal.”
“Come to think of it, Her Highness Princess Hestina must have been greatly shocked. Oh dear, how pitiful.”
However, the noble ladies’ faces showed more interest than pity for Hestina. Just then, someone slipped into place beside them and spoke in a secretive voice.
“Lady Lea, please forget about that talk as it makes me too embarrassed.”
At those words, the noble ladies jumped and turned around. There stood Hestina, smiling with a face that didn’t seem shocked at all.
“Y-Your Highness the Imperial Princess.”
The flustered noble ladies exchanged glances awkwardly. They hadn’t imagined Hestina would dare come here. How on earth did she……?
Noticing their question, Hestina answered cheerfully.
“I received an invitation. I too wanted to give my blessings to the couple.”
Her face showed not a trace of lingering attachment to Seiden, regret about the past, or shame. The noble ladies realized that Hestina was truly an extraordinary woman, and such things could never affect her.
Lady Lea, watching carefully, offered what was meant to be words of comfort.
“Y-Your Highness will find a man as wonderful as Sir Seiden. Of course you will.”
At that, Hestina’s consistently bright smile briefly turned serious.
Hmm. Could there be another man as wonderful as Seiden Blackwood? Well, the continent is vast and there are many men, so perhaps somewhere……
Having reached her conclusion, Hestina smiled again.
“I don’t think that will happen anytime soon. I’ve found something more important than such things to pursue now.”
Confusion crossed the noble ladies’ faces at those words. However, Hestina showed no intention of satisfying their curiosity, simply waiting for the ceremony to begin with a delighted expression.
On the right side of the venue, holy knights and priests had taken their seats. The priests kept glancing back at the sniffling coming from one corner.
“Philip, what can we do? It seems there’s no medicine for this allergy.”
When Kabillon whispered teasingly beside the sniffling Philip, Philip bit his lip trying to hold back tears and answered.
“If I make Saintess cry…… even the Commander won’t forgive me.”
“You’re crazy, Philip. Looking this handsome on the wedding day, what are you trying to do? Saintess should have known earlier how handsome our Philip is.”
Philip glanced sideways at Kabillon.
“Stop teasing me!”
The holy knights behind him quietly mimicked him. Shtop teashing me!
“Hah…… I’m letting her go because she’s the Commander’s.”
As Philip, who hadn’t noticed their joke, looked up at the sky leaving one last profound statement, Kabillon quickly covered his mouth to stop his laughter from bursting out.
Finally calming down and letting out a long sigh, Kabillon patted Philip’s shoulder, this time without any intention to tease.
Kabillon too couldn’t disagree that it was because it was Seiden that he had finally won Bellota. That day, seeing Seiden embrace Bellota in his disheveled state, Kabillon regretted thinking that his love would break him and ultimately lead to his destruction.
To not know, even after experiencing Seiden like that, that Seiden Blackwood was not a man who would break easily.
Seiden would likely go down in Rundhardt’s history. As the man who overcame even God’s will. He truly was relentless. But today at least, being a comrade of such a relentless man somehow made him feel proud.
“But what’s that, Vice Commander?”
When Luke, sitting behind Kabillon, pointed at the sky and asked, his head tilted. Soon a massive shadow covered their heads. Everyone looked at the large bird balloon floating above them.
“Did the magic tower send it?”
“To create such a magnificent bird, as expected of the magic tower!”
The bird balloon, which looked like a blue bird magnified about a hundred times its actual size, drew everyone’s admiration as it gracefully flapped its wings. As if enjoying the attention, the bird circled the sky, and when everyone’s attention was focused, it clapped its wings together. Then from its tail end, an enormous congratulatory message unfurled.
[Congratulations on the marriage of Kanbremes’s Mad Dog and the beautiful Saintess!]
Shock descended on everyone’s faces at that impudent message.
“My goodness, what is that? Who sent it? Get it down now! Find out who sent that crazy bird!”
With the ceremony about to begin soon, the priests panicked and scrambled about.
Felton turned his head slowly, ignoring the balloon. He had a good idea who had sent that outrageous message. If it was who he thought, the priests wouldn’t be able to catch that bird even if they tried all day.
As he expected, the balloon was Yevar’s revenge. Felton let out a sigh mixed with admiration and exasperation as he recalled Seiden using even the great tower master of Hellers as his ship pilot.
Felton now respected Seiden as much as Bellota did. He couldn’t help but respect him when he remembered how Seiden had declared he would head to the Forbidden Land to break Bellota’s curse.
As he recalled the difficult days that had passed, a fresh wave of emotion circled Felton’s chest. It had been fortunate that Seiden discovered Bellota’s curse. Without him, this overwhelmingly beautiful day would never have come.
It was a dazzlingly bright day. Everyone sat in their places, waiting for the ceremony to begin.
Soon the Pope appeared. When Seiden and Bellota appeared arm in arm after him, those who had climbed to various parts of the temple building waiting for the couple burst into loud cheers.
“Blessings to the Saintess! Blessings to Sir Seiden!”
“You’re beautiful, Saintess!”
“Congratulations, Sir Seiden!”
Heartfelt congratulations poured out with each step taken by the blushing Bellota and the shameless-faced Seiden.
The couple finally stopped before the Pope and stood facing each other.
Seiden’s gaze rested on Bellota in her white dress. It was such an enchanting sight that he was certain there had never been and would never be a more beautiful bride. The Pope asked while watching their appearance with satisfaction.
“Does the groom, Seiden Blackwood, swear before God to love the bride, Bellota Rosebeth, eternally?”
“Of course.”
When Seiden answered without a moment’s hesitation, cheers erupted from where the holy knights were gathered. Regardless, Seiden looked only at Bellota. His vow of love for her had begun long ago.
“Does the bride Bellota Rosebeth likewise swear before God to love Seiden Blackwood eternally?”
“Yes, I swear before God.”
Bellota met his gaze and smiled tenderly. At that answer, happiness too overwhelming to bear welled up in Seiden’s chest. All their moments together flashed across Bellota’s lovely face as she looked at him.
From that fleeting moment when he bumped into and fell backward because of a girl who couldn’t see, to that desperate moment when he saved her from a three-eyed monster. The sweat he shed solely to return to her side after gaining new life through Bellota, the moment he finally faced her after returning from war, and even the instant he decided to bury everything in the reflection of his face in her eyes…
Yet unable to shake off his attachment, those foolish days when he would unfailingly attend mass to steal glances at Bellota whenever he returned from subjugation, and that breathtaking night when he finally discovered she was cursed seemed distant now.
Earning Bellota’s hatred by saying awful things, yet regaining her trust again. All those moments when he had staked everything on that fragile trust rushed past his eyes, not a single one missing.
Through those difficult and tender moments, Seiden finally stood here. At this moment, swearing to be Bellota Rosebeth’s man eternally.
“Let the groom, Seiden Blackwood, place the ring containing the eternal vow on the bride, Bellota Rosebeth.”
When the Pope commanded, Seiden, who had been waiting for just this, immediately knelt on one knee and extended his hand to Bellota.
Cheers that seemed like they would bring down the temple erupted at that sight. Among them, the most excited holy knights applauded while cheering until their throats were raw.
Bellota hid her shy smile and slowly extended her hand. Seiden took her small hand and placed the ring he prepared on her fourth finger. Set in the silver ring was a magic stone as blue as Bellota’s eyes.
What had been placed in his palm, revived by God’s will, was the rockdragon’s heart that everyone in the world had searched so desperately for.
“What’s important isn’t the qualification for proposal but the rockdragon’s heart itself, since God doesn’t give meaningless prophecies.”
As Bellota had once speculated, that heart held amazing power. This magic stone absorbed the magical power that the Demon God had left scattered about and transformed it into holy power. It was this magic stone that had absorbed more than half of the Demon God Book’s power.
Seiden decided to gladly offer this glorious trophy to Bellota. Now there was nothing to fear no matter how much her holy power increased.
“With this, I declare that Seiden Blackwood and Bellota Rosebeth have humbly accepted the fate permitted by God and become husband and wife.”
As soon as the Pope’s officiation ended, Seiden kissed Bellota. Cheers that seemed they would bring down the temple erupted.
The bird circling above the guests also couldn’t contain its excitement and burst with a pop, showering colorful flower petals that dyed the entire temple.
Seiden, who had been holding Bellota’s waist and kissing her for quite some time, patiently let her go while promising tonight.
One of the scattered flower petals landed on Bellota’s eyelashes, who had her eyes tightly closed. When Seiden slowly reached out to remove the petal from her eyebrow, her closed eyes slowly opened.
Soon those blue eyes, equally intoxicated, turned to him, and finally the terrible curse that had been on Seiden brilliantly dissolved.
There was nothing more to wish for.
Now, he had been blessed with the ability to remain in those eyes forever.
