Where Salvation Fell, Obsession Blooms

In the holy nation of Alphernia, ruled by sacred nobility, and the Elapha Order of Knights sworn to protect it, a boy from the slums named Rain was destined to be sold into slavery. He is saved by a righteous knight of the Elapha Order and that knight’s beloved apprentice, Taniel.

“Don’t worry. I’ll protect you.”
“I won’t leave you. I’ll always be by your side.”
“Stay by my side always too, Rain.”

Yes. Brilliant and warm, you were always my salvation.

“You made the promise first, Senior.”
“You said you wouldn’t leave, that you’d stay by my side, that we’d always be together……!”
“You’re all I have, so where do you think you’re going?”

I cannot bring myself to let go of you as you turn away from me, the one who has fallen.

* * *

On a winter night without even starlight, two children made a promise. That they would never leave each other’s side, that they would always be together no matter what, that their bond would last forever.
Ten years have passed since then, and now grown, they have faithfully kept the promise they made that night. Until they could no longer imagine a life without the other.

For the chance to hold onto this warmth until the very end, they could do anything.
Truly, anything at all.
