Este

To Valtenvik, the heir to the Duchy of Estenborg.

How have you been?
Although we have been engaged for years, this is only the second letter I have written to you.
If you don’t mind, could you please keep me updated on how you’re doing in Livache?

Princess Este is the cuckoo of the Deneka royal family.
In order to hide Este and her uncertain lineage, the royal family arranged her engagement to a member of a collateral branch.
Although she had no say in the matter, she still dreams of an ordinary married life.

“I wanted to know more about you. I’ve missed you.”

She had been certain that Walter felt the same way.
After all, he had allowed her to call him by a nickname and had always replied to her letters.

But then—

“Tell me, do you still wish to live as my wife?”

For the first time, fear gripped her throat. She could not read the thoughts behind his eyes.
