After returning home from a vacation that felt as sweet as a dream, I found myself facing an unexpected situation.
“What, what is this?”
My shop had changed.
To be precise, it wasn’t my shop that had changed, but the area around it.
This street had originally been lined with quaint little shops, and my shop, with its three stories and mint color, had stood out.
But upon my return, the shops next to my building were gone, replaced by tall and imposing structures.
‘There are no windows. What is that supposed to be?’
There was just a single door on the first floor, and it looked as though a giant lump of charcoal had been placed there.
As I got closer, I noticed the building’s name written in small letters next to the door.
“Magic Tower Branch? Why did this building suddenly appear?”
Was that supposed to be a sign?
Blinking in confusion, I quickly turned to the side. Coincidentally, someone associated with the Magic Tower was nearby.
“Yuri, is this one of your surprise parties?”
“…No. It’s the first time I’m seeing it too.”
Yuri’s face was as rigid as mine, indicating he truly had no idea.
‘So, the Magic Tower set up a branch without Yuri knowing?’
I couldn’t make sense of the situation and just blinked in bewilderment. Then the door of the building opened, and someone I knew stepped out.
It was Colin and Bradley.
Colin, emerging while stroking his white beard, beamed as soon as he saw me.
“Oh my, our little one is here?”
“Little one?”
I tilted my head at the unfamiliar term. Yuri walked past me and grabbed Colin by the shoulders.
“What is going on here, Master?”
It was just a confused disciple asking his master for an explanation. But for some reason, Colin’s face turned dark and grim in an instant.
He shielded himself with his arms and shouted.
“Hold on, we’re civilized people! Let’s resolve this peacefully through conversation!”
“Conversation? Peace?”
Yuri asked incredulously. At that moment, Bradley closed his eyes tightly and shouted.
“Yuri, please consider the young lady beside you!”
“What?”
‘The young lady beside me? Me?’
I was bewildered, and my eyes met Yuri’s, who was scowling fiercely. Startled, Yuri raised his hands and backed away from Colin, then furrowed his brow again.
Meanwhile, Colin quickly hid behind Bradley.
“Ha, you had this all planned out.”
Yuri sighed deeply and rubbed his face.
I felt like sighing too. Having a large building that ruined the view next to my shop was a serious issue.
I crossed my arms and confronted Colin and Bradley.
“Did you two do this?”
“Ahem! Well, we thought the home of the country’s most famous couple shouldn’t be so small and modest, so we put in some effort.”
“What? The country’s most famous…? Who?”
Their gazes turned to me. I pointed at myself and Yuri with my finger and asked again.
“Us, really?”
Instead of answering, Bradley handed me a bundle of newspapers.
On the front page of the newspaper was…
“Why are we in the newspaper?”
They say when you’re too shocked, you don’t even get angry. That was exactly my situation.
When did they even draw this? The newspaper featured a picture of Yuri and me, along with a harmonious depiction of the flower shop. The likeness was so accurate that anyone who knew me could recognize my face.
Wait, what’s this headline?
“The only Grand Mage born once in a century from the Esrenche family…?”
As I read the headline aloud, Yuri blushed slightly and nodded, indicating it was true.
I widened my eyes in disbelief.
‘A Grand Mage? You never told me you were such an incredible mage!’
At first, he pretended to be an incompetent mage wannabe kicked out of the Magic Tower, and now he was being hailed as a peerless great mage. I didn’t know how to react.
As I stood there dumbfounded, Colin suddenly grabbed my arm. His eyes sparkled like a child’s, which didn’t match his wise, wrinkled face.
“I was worried because Yuri refused to inherit, but this works out perfectly. Everything can go to you, young lady!”
“Inherit what?”
“What else? When you inherit the position of Tower Master, you naturally get everything that comes with it. From this branch building to magical artifacts.”
“What? Why are you giving those to me?”
I couldn’t follow the flow of the conversation at all.
‘Wait, are we married or something? We just confirmed our feelings for each other, and now we’re talking about inheritance! Oh, is that why I’m being called “little one” now?’
I had so many questions, but Colin didn’t give me a chance to ask them.
Colin, who seemed to have already made up his mind, left me with a request, smiling contentedly.
“I’ll leave everything to you. Just take good care of our Yuri. You might not know it, but despite his tough exterior, he’s got such a small and tender heart.”
I thought he had it backward.
He might look like a delicate and fragile beauty, but inside, he was incredibly strong.
Watching the whole process, Yuri, who had been sighing repeatedly, finally couldn’t hold back and stepped in between Colin and me. He began pulling Colin towards a secluded spot.
“Master, let’s go to the backyard for a chat.”
“What? With you? Me? Just the two of us? I, I want to talk with our little one…”
Colin reached out to me, as if asking for a life jacket.
‘What should I do? Should I stop this?’
But was it right to interfere when a disciple and master wanted to have a conversation?
As I stood there, unsure of what to do, Bradley spoke loudly.
“That’s right, Yuri. And who announces a m*rder threat so loudly?”
“M*rder threat?”
What on earth was he talking about? When I asked, Yuri warned Bradley in a fierce tone.
“…Bradley, do you want a private conversation with me too?”
“Gasp! No, please take Master away!”
“Bradley, you fool!”
Watching this, I quickly understood the dynamics among the three.
Colin and Bradley were capable enough to buy up other buildings and *rect a huge one in no time, yet they seemed powerless in front of Yuri.
‘So that’s why they’re afraid of private conversations.’
While Colin boldly confessed to me first, Yuri always acted cautiously, as if afraid that crossing a line would make me push him away forever.
Swallowing his proposal alone seemed to be part of that caution.
‘But here, the Master is causing all sorts of trouble.’
Even amidst their bickering, I could feel Yuri watching me for my reaction.
Finally, I clapped my hands together to break the tension and spoke up.
“No need to argue, Yuri. What’s done is done, and we have to deal with it.”
With my words, the expressions on the three faces changed. Colin and Bradley sighed deeply with relief, while Yuri looked restless.
“Is that all, Titi?”
It’s not that I didn’t feel any pressure.
But this was something I had to accept to be by the side of someone as extraordinary as Yuri.’
In the past, when I was the Marchioness, I was expected to fulfill many demands as if they were natural.
However, the situation was completely different now. Back then, my husband was indifferent to what others demanded of me, but Yuri was always considerate of me.
So, I was willing to bear this awkwardness.
“We are indeed a couple, aren’t we? I didn’t plan to announce it so dramatically, but it’s inevitable when you have such an impressive boyfriend.”
“That…”
Suddenly, Yuri’s face flushed red. He approached me quickly, took my hand, and kissed the back of it, whispering softly.
“Let’s go back to the villa. I want to be alone with you right now.”
His blue eyes shimmered with a golden halo like stars.
If I nodded now, Yuri would surely whisk me away immediately.
But no matter how much I enjoyed our time at the villa, we couldn’t go back just yet.
“No! We really don’t have time now. We need to get ready to attend Rosie’s wedding!”
Rosemary and the Crown Prince’s royal wedding was imminent, and I still hadn’t finished the wedding gift.
‘I need to check if the flowers I tied up to dry have dried properly before we leave.’
There were many other preparations to make. I needed to adhere to the dress code since I was receiving Rosie’s bouquet, and I also had to consider accessories and hair styling.
As I quickly ran through the list of tasks I needed to complete in a short time, Colin spoke up.
“I received a gift from the future Crown Princess, so I kept it for you.”
“Really? Thank you!”
It must be a ribbon or accessory that I had to wear at the wedding.
Grateful, I thanked Colin sincerely, and he scratched his head as he replied.
“No problem. I just took the message while I was redecorating the bedroom.”
“What? Redecorating the bedroom?”
“Did you plan to keep using separate rooms like before?”
Yes. Of course, I did.
