“Get a divorce.”
Five years after losing her daughter, Martiana was still shut away in her room, consumed by grief. While her husband was away on a business trip, his mother arrived with divorce papers in his place.
“Your husband has agreed.”
The demand was sudden. Cold. Final.
But Martiana did not refuse. Their marriage had fallen apart long ago. The life that had once been nothing but happiness began to disintegrate the moment they lost their child.
So let it end. Let everything end.
They were exhausted. They were beyond repair. There was no need to keep hurting each other any longer.
She let go. And she left.
And then—
“What?”
Why was their long-lost daughter living with her husband’s younger brother and his wife?
Why was her sister-in-law introducing the child as her own?
And why?
“I have no intention of divorcing you.”
Was the husband, who had initially agreed to the divorce, now refusing to let her go?

The description alone sounds heartbreaking. What could ever justify allowing a mother to believe her child has died while same child still lives. I cannot think of circumstances in which that would be tolerable.
