“Can you really be so sure? You used to like me, Ella.”
Even in the darkness, Kals’s teal eyes gleamed strangely as he looked down at Eleanor.
“Of course! I would never, ever love a womanizer like you!”
“Then you’d better try hard to keep that resolve, Ella. I’ve never once let go of something I’d set my sights on.”
Kals placed one hand against the wall beside Eleanor and warned her from a distance where his lips were almost touching hers.
“You pretend to reject me, but the truth is, you want me. Don’t deceive yourself, Eleanor.”
Kals whispered as he licked away the tears that had gathered at the corners of her eyes and spilled down her cheeks.
