Sugar Pain

Delphinite has the gift of being able to see and erase other people’s pain. She dreams of opening a counselling center for women called ‘Maison Claire’ and of becoming a businesswoman who heals emotional wounds.
However, in order to fulfil this dream, she agrees to marry a ninety-two-year-old scholar. Just as the ceremony is about to begin, however, Cassian de Rochefort, Director-General of the Special Investigations Bureau, bursts in and arrests her for marriage fraud.

“Try to remember who I am.”

She is certain she has never met him. How could she have promised to marry him?
Then she catches sight of his familiar grey eyes and remembers someone from long ago. Someone she once loved with all her heart — and now hates.

“From the moment I promised to marry you, my feelings have never changed. Not once.”

He vanished without a word, only to return ten years later. And now, absurdly enough, he has presented her with a written marriage proposal.
