Epilogue
“Claire, another proposal letter has arrived from the Radner family.”
Earl Mansfield entered Claire’s bedroom, holding a letter with a puzzled expression. He had only heard about Helion’s arrest but knew nothing about Rexion’s involvement.
“Give it to me.”
“Why is Duke Radner proposing to you?”
Although former Duke Radner had been forced to relinquish his position due to Rexion’s pressure, the official announcement had not yet been made, leaving Earl Mansfield confused.
“Surely it’s not the eldest son of the Radner family, right? Didn’t you say you had firmly rejected him? Even if he inherits the title of Duke, I absolutely oppose someone like him!”
Having learned about Helion’s actions, Earl Mansfield was shocked and felt fortunate that the engagement had been rejected earlier. He detested the idea of Claire being involved with Helion again.
“That’s impossible. He was expelled from the Radner family.”
“Then what is it? Surely Duke Radner wouldn’t take you as his mistress, so what is this about?”
“The Radner family has a second son, Rexion. He’s the one who proposed to me.”
Claire clicked her tongue in frustration, thinking Earl Mansfield was being overly dense. Perhaps that explained why his business ventures often failed.
“Is that true? Are you really going to become the next Duchess of the Radner family?”
Earl Mansfield’s eyes widened in disbelief. To confirm that it wasn’t a dream, he pinched his cheek.
“It’s not a dream!”
After Helion’s arrest, the rumors about Rexion circulating in high society had been corrected, and Earl Mansfield had heard the news. His eyes now shone with emotion.
“You’re not going to refuse this time, are you?”
He looked at Claire with hopeful eyes, silently pleading for her not to reject the proposal.
“Why would I refuse? I’m already in a relationship with him….”
“Is that true? Yippee!”
Before Claire could finish her sentence, Earl Mansfield shouted in excitement and hugged her, leaving a brief kiss on her cheek despite her protests.
“What’s going on?”
Startled by the commotion, Countess Mansfield and Claire’s siblings entered her room. Upon hearing the news, they were both surprised and delighted.
“I knew it.”
Only her younger sister, Chloe, smiled meaningfully.
“Why did you think that?”
“You were the only one who didn’t realize it. When I asked how you felt about the Treasurer, your face practically screamed that you liked Young Master Rexion Radner.”
“Oh… did it?”
Claire looked embarrassed, her expression sheepish. Chloe handed her a letter.
“A few days ago, when you were out, a crow lingered around your room. I opened the window for it, and it left this letter behind. There’s no sender listed, but I thought you might know who it’s from.”
“A crow? You should have just left it on the desk.”
At the mention of the crow, Claire’s eyes widened. She had been waiting for news from Celia, and this seemed to be it. She hurriedly took the letter.
“I meant to leave it on the desk, but the palace sent an urgent summons, and in my rush, I ended up holding onto the letter without realizing it. Sorry.”
“It’s fine. As long as I have it now.”
Claire barely registered Chloe’s apology. Her thoughts were entirely consumed by curiosity about what Celia had written.
[It seems like you mistook the person you fell in love with, so I corrected it for you. Are you satisfied now? I’m sorry for not telling you earlier, even though I knew. I didn’t think the two of you, being so passive, would work out if I revealed the truth. I hope you don’t resent me too much.
P.S. It seems I’ve gained a reputation as an eccentric mage. Could you please clear that up for me? You know now, don’t you? That I’m not an eccentric mage.]
Claire burst into laughter after reading the letter. Celia’s complaint about being unfairly labeled as eccentric was both amusing and absurd.
“What’s so funny?”
“Claire, what’s going on?”
Her family, who didn’t know the context, looked puzzled after reading the letter. Claire couldn’t bring herself to explain everything that had happened.
“It’s about the mage who grants wishes tied to the Wish Tree. Apparently, their skills are exceptional.”
She decided to fulfill Celia’s request, spreading the word that the mage wasn’t eccentric but rather highly skilled. She vowed to let her family and others know.
“Well, that’s good. I don’t know what it’s about, but if it’s good news, then it’s good news.”
The Mansfield family exchanged glances, their faces blooming with smiles. Soon, their laughter echoed throughout the mansion, filling the air with joy.
***
Rexion visited the Mansfield estate that afternoon.
Not long after, Claire’s bedroom transformed into an intimate space.
The visit had started with Rexion greeting her family and being shown around the mansion, but the tour ended in her bedroom, and they naturally became closer.
Ever since they officially became a couple, they couldn’t resist each other whenever their eyes met, and everything progressed smoothly.
“Being in a space filled with your scent makes me lose control. I can’t hold back anymore.”
Rexion’s provocative words stirred Claire as he laid her on the bed and kissed her. At the same time, he began removing her clothes piece by piece.
Above, his lips devoured her, while below, his firm desire pushed deep into her. The overwhelming sensation made her feel as though something inside her was about to explode.
“Hah… Ah!”
Claire’s soft m*ans and the sound of their movements filled the room, intensifying the atmosphere. Rexion’s passionate rhythm seemed to make up for all the missed opportunities between them.
Claire matched his movements, her body and mind entirely immersed in the moment. Rational thought was replaced by instinct.
“I can’t believe you’re completely mine now. I want to fill every part of you with me.”
Even as his lower body moved, Rexion showered her with kisses and words of admiration. Seeing the marks he left on Claire’s flushed skin made his lips curl into a satisfied smile.
“Fill me completely with you… as much as you want.”
Sharing the same sentiment, Claire smiled faintly, even while catching her breath. Her words made Rexion’s eyes darken with desire.
“Words like that make me lose control. Are you trying to drive me crazy?”
Rexion’s movements grew more intense.
“I thought about proposing to you on one knee, but saying it now, while you’re beneath me, doesn’t seem too bad either. Will you marry me, Claire?”
“Ah… Ah!”
He deliberately teased her sensitive spots, making it impossible for her to respond. She felt as though she might melt into him completely.
“Of course, I plan to make a formal proposal later. Is that alright?”
Even as he spoke, his movements remained fl*id. Claire, despite her breathless m*ans, managed to nod in agreement.
Seeing her response, Rexion smiled lazily. His once rough movements softened slightly.
Finally able to catch her breath, Claire turned her gaze to Rexion.
Sunlight streaming through the window made him appear radiant, as though his body were adorned with glittering jewels.
Captivated by his beauty, Claire surrendered to the waves of pleasure. Warmth and fulfillment washed over her as she reached her peak.
On Claire’s left ring finger was a diamond ring, symbolizing eternal love.
Rexion kissed the back of her hand and smiled contentedly as he admired the mark of their union. Though his desire and possessiveness were far from satiated, he felt a sense of satisfaction.
