Daphne Sinclair. With her beautiful looks, excellent etiquette, and a smile that melts men’s hearts, she was a famous figure in high society.
“Just a Count is not enough, Daphne. At least a Marquis should be your target.”
Her uncle’s command—one she could not refuse, no matter how much she wished otherwise.
To save her younger sibling, she volunteered to become his puppet.
“Daphne. You have countless charms beyond your beauty. It’s almost impossible not to be captivated by you.”
A man she wished to be with, even if it meant giving up everything.
That was before she met Ryan.
“It was just a kind of game. Something to pass the time in the boring countryside.”
But in the end, she could only lie to Ryan.
“You don’t meet the standards I’ve set. Not once have I ever wished to be with you.”
Straightening her back and meeting his eyes, she mercilessly trampled on his heart.
Without knowing what would happen to her afterward.

When they met again, he greeted her as the head of the renowned MacClift Duchy.
“It was just a kind of game. Something to pass the time in the boring countryside.”
And, with the perfect appearance of a noble, he returned her own words with a cold, indifferent face.
“Did you actually believe me when I said I loved you back then?”
He smirked, his lips curling with a cold sneer. With his chin slightly raised, he looked down at her and slowly leaned in.
“Foolish, pitiful Daphne.”
He grabbed Daphne’s trembling hair and whispered into her ear.
“There’s no way I’d ever fall in love with a woman like you.”
